She is their lead producer, and she's got the resume for it. She was the lead producer on Sims Online.... Speaking as someone who once tried "playing" a free trial of The Sims Online, I think this is the least surprising thing I've learned all year. Eh, despite the game ending up poor, the experience of leading a team that big and shipping a game like that is very valuable. I've worked with a bunch of really talented people who came from teams that shipped bad games. Anyway, I put down my preorder money in full today. Looking forward to it.

With all my grousing about individuals on the development team, I should probably mention that I have also pre-ordered the Collector's Edition of Assassin's Creed. If this game successfully captures the stalk -> kill -> escape mechanic that I think it will, I expect to have a great time. -Autistic Angel

Blackjack, that was really quite funny. Thanks. I too think Jade is gorgeous (not enough to distract you though if something's wrong in the game ), and I'm hoping the game turns out well. Most producers seem basically to be "cat herders," so I do imagine even working on a game that turns out poorly is valuable as far as learning how to get a crew to work together. It's just, well, nobody every really did figure out why the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time didn't find a massive audience befitting a game with such great reviews. Going grittier with its followups didn't seem to aid sales. If it's because the games were too complicated, then Assassin's Creed might well fall into the same retail sales dead zone. Hopefully, like Bioshock, the game will attain better sales than its spiritual predecessor. Sometimes innovative games just don't click with the mass audience, but sometimes they do.

I wasn't going to get it right away initially, but Best Buy Canada is doing an AC and COD4 combo for $90 total, and I couldn't pass that up. This game looks great, I have high hopes for it.

I hope we get to sneak into a feast and drop some poison in a victim's goblet. Then shrink back and watch as the victim stands to give a toast and then starts choking and falls dead. Then whistling a catchy little "craddle of civilization" tune, slowly saunter out into the bright Jerusalem day........There is more than one way to skin a cat, and kill a contract.

They mostly go into business degrees.
But the computer science and art girls are the coolest though, being cute is just icing on the cake. I've always preferred smart and career oriented women.
However, I know that type of woman and they tend to be very good at making sure things get done, so while it's nice to have a producer that's easy on the eyes, she won't be easy on your workload. But, at least she'll be giving you a pinball smile while telling you to stay late to get your work done.

Seriously.
The reviewer claims its not a spoiler since it's told in the first 5 minutes and when talking about the story, it makes it seem more interesting. But that's complete and utter bullshit. There's a REASON that the team behind AC hasn't said anything. They want to player to experience it.
1up is so pompous, so arrogant. Damnit!

I'm so pissed at 1up. Being gaming journalists, they should RESPECT gamers.
Michael Donahoe makes the executive decision of telling readers the story because it's "more interesting" then what we previously knew about the story. WE DIDN'T PREVIOUSLY KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE STORY.
The team behind AC didn't tell anybody because they wanted the gaming public to EXPERIENCE it. They wanted the gaming public to experience it rather than have a shitty gaming journalist spoil it.
Just because the story is explained in the first 5 minutes doesn't justify it. It really doesn't.
Pompous, arrogant assholes. I didn't really like 1up before and hell if I ever go back again.

I can understand being a little upset at a big spoiler, but I figured anybody who had been following the game basically knows that anyway. I haven't even watched the intro movie or read the review but from the regular demostrations they have given and videos I've seen certain aspects are very apparent. If they were trying to truly hide that aspect of the game they did a really, really shitty job.
It always seemed more like a "We're trying to keep this a secret from everybody. Oops, did I just show you that? *nudge, nudge, wink*" kind of thing where they were trying to artificially build hype.
And if you have been in that much of a media blackout that you haven't read any interviews or seen any videos, then why the hell would you read reviews and expect even less to be revealed there?

mostly because they dropped the damn info in a review.
and yeah, i knew about some of that other stuff. that didn't mean i knew the whole thing, or how it tied into the game. i would have much rather found that out on my own.

Are major twists in movies (The Village, The Usual Suspects) spelled out in the REVIEW because it makes the story "more interesting?"
No, a twist is alluded to, and then parts of the movie are critiqued. That's what a review is.
How is this any different?
I am really frustrated at the lack of respect shown by Michael Donahoe. Incredibly unprofessional. I would expect this kind of flamboyant, total disregard of a game's secret to come from a source that doesn't understand the gaming public.
But from 1up, who has the motto of "Where gamers call home"...
What a joke. Michael Donahoe doesn't care about the audience he is writing directly to nor his integrity as a journalist.

I don't really see how it's a major plot 'twist' if it happens before you even start playing. That seems more like just the setup for the story. Doesn't a twist have to occur after the story starts to be a twist?

i think it's more of the point that it sounds like it's something that's not been 100% verified before, and people might want to experience it without someone else telling them what it is. if they wanted to leave it in the review, it should have been put under a spoiler alert and not just out in plain sight.

M. Nights movies twists and Usual Suspects twist happen at the end. This game's "plot twist" happens before the game even actually starts, plus its been basically leaked several times already in the gaming press.
