Hi guys, play my game!

I have already had a torrid affair with Assassin's Creed.  When shots of the game first came out, I was intrigued, exciting.  Somewhere along the line, though, I fell out of love with the concept and design of the game.  I heard about the weird control.  Read a few impressions of the story (and I know VERY LITTLE, but was sort of confused when I heard about it).  Saw the weird glitch in the E3 (or some other festival) demo.  Kind of lost interest in the myriad of holiday titles coming out...

But after hearing about Famitsu's 37/40 score, my interest was piqued and after doing some research, all signs point to Assassin's Creed being great.

And while not entirely confirmed (obviously), a few members of NeoGAF have reported that they've played both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game, and have found very little difference, if any at all.



I loved roaming around in Shadow of the Colossus, climbing various temples, getting to various places, and it looks like Assassin's Creed is delivering that same freedom and ability.

Who else is excited?  Got it preordered?  For which system?  Feel free to update the thread with review scores/news/thoughts as you deem fit.

Yea, I'm totally in.  This looks like it'll bring some new and unique gameplay - I'm always up for that.

its a game i want,and know i would enjoy...but,it comes when i am skint and the game is  sandwiched between call of duty 4 and mass effect(two mega must have's)...if it was a December game,it would be a day one purchase,but as it is,it will have to wait a few weeks unfortunately

and it will prolly be 360 when it does get purchased

If it has the atmosphere I think it will, coupled with great music, it will be a winner with me.

Combat other than the stealth aspects aren't a concern for me with this game.

Oh and as for Jayde..although cute, she's far too young for me.

I actually don't care how attractive she may look, because hearing her speak ruins everything for me, including Assassin's Creed.  I have been very excited for this game, but every time I listen to her describe it or talk about it my anticipation falters somewhat.  You would think they would have been able to find someone better to speak on behalf of such a potentially groundbreaking title.  And instead it's like listening to Ben Stein talk about "vee-oh-oh...........voooo-doooo economics." 

Because of my wife's aggressive savings plan, I'll have to wait to hopefully find a copy beneath the Christmas tree, and this will at least allow me to wait to hear what forum members and reviewers think about the title before purchasing blindly.

My resolve to not pick up AC on day one keeps shrinking.  The only thing keeping me from putting down a pre-order right now is that with ME and Rock Band coming out the following week, I simply don't have enough time for all three.   I can almost guarantee that AC will be the first title I pick up in '08.

I very much want this but had planned to get it on the 360, which is dead (coffin should be here tomorrow).  It is interesting to hear some impressions that there isn't much difference between the two console platforms.  If that is really the case, I would be willing to get it on the PS3.  It isn't like it has multiplayer, so the only reason, if the game was equal on both platforms, to get it would be for Achievements and I am not much of a whore of those.  I will wait to see some reviews and then decide whether I wait for my 360 to come back or just get it on the PS3.

I am going today after work to remove my fully paid CoD4 from the preorder list and put that money on Assassins Creed and the balance on Kaine and Lynch. I have done CoD4 many times before in the past and with so many games to choose from and gas prices on the rice CoD4 will have to be a rental.... Make way for new and exciting things......

One can argue that K&L provides a fresher game experience than the, albeit supposedly excellent, scripted Call of Duty 4 offers.  And most likely longer.

BTW, what do you guys think about the supposed 30-hour length that Assassin's Creed reportedly gives gamers?  I have no problem with it

i'm still not sure if i'll be picking up Assassin's Creed on release day or not.  at this point, i think there are too many other must-have games in the near future (Mass Effect, Rock Band) for me to jump blindly into this one.  if the initial buzz from everyone around here is good, however, i could probably be an easy victim of the forum effect...

I'm with you.  Though this thread is melting away months of pessimissim about this title.  Grit your teeth and hold on!

I did not know that, but it does indeed almost guarantee an awesome score for the game.

Freedom Fighters is easily in my top five game soundtracks ever.

I think people might be overestimating Jade Raymond's input into the development of Assassin's Creed.  Based on the interviews I've seen her give, I suspect that putting her in charge as Lead Designer would have resulted in a game titled Um, You Know, Macro Behavioral Algorithms as Applied to Um...Like, Mobile Objects Within Predefined Artificial Environments.
