The public beta has been released.  Has the first town and 2 side locations.

http://www.irontowerstudio.com/

Indie RPG with lots of C&C and turn based combat.  Still at least a year from the full game release but a pre-order is available.  I loved the beta personally.  Probably my most anticipated game.  Lots of feedback on the forums with some areas already slated for tweaking.  Myself I really enjoyed the combat as is but many found it too difficult, so the combat will be one area that is tweaked.

this just popped up for Steam Early access.  I tried the beta and found it interesting enough that I'll keep an eye out for it to go on sale.

I see this one is now released.  Any thoughts?

I see the reviews either praise or damn the game for it's combat difficulty.  I dl'ed the demo and I can't beat the tutorial fighter even changing up gear, etc., but I'm not a power gamer and could be missing something obvious.

If the road home crosses any landscape features that include words like "forgotten," "void," "razorthorn," "shadowmist," or "doom," then I vote that we take a nap first.

The game is hard, and combat is even harder. I think that's the way the developer intended it, combat as a last resort.

Unfortunately, I haven't put in enough time on it to be able to even give a review.

I played the demo, and was impressed with the game. it's rather clunky, the graphics look like something out of Neverwinter Nights (albeit in a Roman environment) and the music is merely average. But I kept getting pulled back to the game to see what would happen next. I agree that combat is designed to be the option of last resort.
