I was in my local Blockbuster tonight dropping off some Total Access Movies.

I noticed they had 4 PS3 units for rental, along with a *LOT* of the games available to rent. I cannot imagine every BB store getting 4 units, that would be insane, no wonder there was shortages. LOL!  I didn't rent one though, got too many games to play this weekend already.  disgust

OMFG I didn't even think about that.  They want a CC to rent it, and say they will charge you $500 for the unit if it isn't returned after a week or some shit.. But damn, by then you should have $5000+ bones.   Thats too evil for me though, but a nice idea nevertheless.

Well when only 805 people actually kept the console that shouldn't be hard  Tongue  What are the dimensions on this bad boy?  Way bigger than a 360?

Yes, check this chart, you'll note that the Wii is SMALLER than the Nintendo Nintendo Entertainment System.

That, and there was a lot of empty space in that thing for its time.

Interesting how Sony went with the PSP's front end design for the PS3's front end design. Looks nice on a giant screen.

People keep saying it's whisper quiet... Hopefully Sony just managed to get some really quiet fans and nots just skimp on the cooling or else those things are going to get very toasty.

I was concerned about heat when I saw a kiosk machine at Walmart that had severe texture ripping and even the pulling of polygons that happens when a video card is getting way too hot.  They had only had the machine setup for about a day.

Here are two more shots, showing the leaderboard for Blast Factor (I'm now #648!) and of what it looks like when you press the PS button on the controller.

Gameplay shots coming up in about 2-3 hours....have to go to the store. A quick word about Madden though, I played some this morning. It's very similar to the 360 version, except the textures on the field are more detailed and the tackling is much better. There are gang tackles and it's all physics based now. Much better than the 360 version in that respect. The players also have upgraded textures for their uniforms and helmets.

You have to remember that the kiosks are all in enclosed spaces. Many 360's failed in them as well. I still can't believe how quiet it is. One side of the PS3 is cool to the touch and the other is a little warm....but not hot. It's cooler than my launch 360 is.

In that last screen shot you posted Hetz, I noticed that there are only 4 "blocks" for controllers. I had thought that the PS3 would be able to utilize 8 different controllers at once (why would you want to, though, I don't know). Is that not the case any more?

I think it is 7, but not sure.

7 is the limit for Bluetooth devices.  I think I read (but can't confirm) that if you have more than 4 controllers hooked up that two lights will be lit- ie controller 6 will have the 2 and 4 LEDs lit, Controller 7 will have 4 and 3, etc.

That is correct. You can have 7. If you have more than 4, on the 5th controller it will have a 1 and 4 lighted on the controller to signify 5 and so on.

Anyway, since my wife took the camera today, I will have to put some more pics up later tonight. Here are some others though from other forums!  icon_biggrin
