That's the only reason I'd even consider getting one of these guinea pigs from the launch batch that you know is going to have problems.. so I can stick it on ebay, make a ton of money and go out and buy me a new motorcycle!

I GOT A PS3!!

I made it out with my life, so that was a plus! Downloading the system update now. First impressions....this thing is whisper quiet. It's really great. My 360 sounds like a turbo jet taking off compared to this.

When I was picking up my PS3, one guy was there begging someone to sell him a PS3....he was offering $1000 cash for it. Nobody took him up on it. Out of the 5 people that got the system, only 1 was going to sell it on Ebay.

I just placed bids on 18 different e-bay auctions for PS3 systems, at $5,000,000 each. 

Of course, I don't have any money, but I do have a Powerball ticket that I hope pays off soon.

Impressive. According to my Gamestop's store manager, he's tracked down 3 of his 5 consoles to eBay sales, and the other 2 have no games reserved.

Going by how much stuff he buys I don't think he would even notice an extra 8,000 dollars in his account anyway.

Well considering most of the auctions I have looked at, are bidded on by people with hundreds of positive feedbacks, I would say the chance is good, real good.  I personally sold some Xbox360's for more than I will even say, and never had an issue with payment.

Think about it Hetz, it was but a few months ago you were championing the Xbox360 as the coming of Christ, and bragging about your giant library.  You cannot POSSIBLY have fully fleshed out all of those games already, have you?  If you have, then I recommend you ebay your time-shift machine that you are using to slow down time.    Anyway, sell off the PS3 for 8K, work on clearing your backlog, and by that time, you'll be able to get a PS3 for a couple hundred bucks!

Enjoy it to all those that get it.  I'm pretty happy with my 360 at the moment and I probably won't get a PS3 for quite abit.  The older I get the more I can't justify the cost unless I had alot of disposable income

One of my buddies picked his up at Gamestop this morning.  I was trying to get him bring it over so we can try it out.  But he is listing it on Ebay right now.  I figure I could probably get through Resistance before his auction finished but he is having none of it.

For me it's not necessarily the cost, but the time.  I don't have enough time to play the games I currently own for the 360, not to mention a rather hefty backlog of games for the orignal Xbox and the PS2.  If I were to add another console to the mix I'd have to quit my job.  And I just haven't seen anything about the PS3 that makes it a must-have, at least for me.  Perhaps someday.  But that day is definitely not today.

I'm with you Soulchilde.  During the last generation my Xbox/Gamecube was a perfect combo for me and the kids.  Now the X360/Wii will be the perfect next gen combo for me as well.  Plus I have my stellar Alienware laptop for PC gaming.  I'm set.

The only thing that would make me buy a PS3 instantly is if KOTOR 3 was announced for the PS3 only.

Impressions so far:

Setup my Playstation Network account (Screen Name is Hetz, if anybody here got the PS3 and wants to add me to their friends list). It took about 15 minutes to setup with using the controller. Went and checked out the Playstation Store. Pretty nice!

I am currently downloading the Motorstorm Demo and then I will get the NBA 07 demo.....while my controller is charging. I will try and get some pictures up later today. One thing I am really impressed about is the amount of options in the XMB. Tons of stuff in there.

Anway, I have to go eat lunch with the wife and kids....and I'll be back this afternoon with more.

I have impressions...my Xbox360 has 80% of the launch titles, they came out last week, and the only exclusive at launch thats been reviewed better than your standard Megaman sequel is a FPS that looks like Timesplitters 4. I know I will get a PS3 eventually, but until the games show up, why bother having a shitty Blue-Ray player?

BTW, I went past a few places with midnight launches last night (not to partake, I was busy helping someone out), and about 3 of them had squad cars all over.  So unless the cops are standing in line, it seems all the thug lifers prefer the PS3.  Big ups on the street cred?

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but I think if I had a PS3 in front of me, the games I'd want to play most would be Rez and Okami. Actually, I have seen some stuff that looks neat. That Eye of Judgment card game (not sure if that name is right) looks intriguing. Fatal Inertia looks nifty, too.

It took from 10:45AM until like 2:00PM of refreshing the durned site and going back and forward on runtime errors.  Seriously... once I got the thing in my cart I messed with trying to reach check out for over an hour.  Costco's site shut down for a while.  When it came back up I had to hit the continue order page about 7 times, shipping info page at least 15 times, billing info 7 times before I messed up and had to get past shipping again.  Than Shipping info 4 or 5 times to billing info about 7 times before trying the "complete order" button about 9 times.  In between each time was lots of <back <forward> buttons trying to get the page to reload.  I almost gave up to have lunch with my boss; glad I didn't. 

All in all if it goes through properly (and I have received an email that it's processing but am not 100% confident yet) I'll have spent 3 hours or so "camping out" online.  Which beats actually camping out.

Yep, it is HEAVY. I had no idea it would be that heavy. It feels very solid. As for the "shitty" blu-ray player comments, from the usual suspect....the picture quality is better than my standalone unit.
