Invites are going out for a press event where they're supposed to detail 5 new projects, and one of them is listed as: based on a just-launched property from the TV and comic book world whose popularity is changing life as some know it there's only one property that fits the bill..... I wonder what the other four are; hopefully one is a new Monkey Island season.

Well, Sierra's back catalogue could open a whole new world of cool.
I'm hoping for Gabriel Knight, personally, but Space Quest and Quest for Glory would also be great.

Personally I'm hoping there's an announcement for more Monkey Island coming. Also I'm worried they may be overextending themselves. Jurassic Park starts in April before BttF is done, Walking Dead is Q4 2012, Fables is Q1 2012, Kings Quest is to get more details at E3 so I'm guessing it's possibly a 2011 start too, and since they're picking up Puzzle Agent from the 'pilot' that will take up time too.

The thing is that they've developed a toolset by now that lets them churn out content at a very fast rate. With the success they've been having, they can afford having a few content creation teams going at the same time. All their games run on the same engine, after all.

Took a look at the videos of Jurassic Park stuff, they weren't kidding when they said they were pulling a lot of ideas from Heavy Rain for their action sequences, although, I'm not sure if they did that well, or went too far back towards Dragon's Lair/Indigo Prophecy.

I'll be the minority here, but I like my adventures in 2D hand-drawn graphics. I had fun playing Telltale's take on Sam and Max, but really didn't like the graphics. I completely understand that 3D graphics speed up the ability to quickly make episodes, which is the business model they're following. But for me, they break the game. Just look at the amazing and beautiful (completely non-3D )'The Whispered World'. I made a little mini-review for myself when I completed it, so if any of you are on the fence about this one, maybe this will pursuade you: Pro: • Beautiful graphics and brilliant music create a fantastic atmosphere; • Fun characters with witty dialogue; • Game rewards player for trying out random objects; • Good range of puzzles (inventory, logic, use of different abilities…) • Surprisingly adult themes and story. Negative: • Story starts out slow; • Surprisingly bad quality of cutscenes. This game comes highly recommended! Everything clicked for me in this game: the story, puzzles, graphics and music all fit, and the main character, Sadwick, is a melancholic boy I could easily identify with. The Whispered World reminds me of Lucasarts in its prime, although it’s a bit more serious. Sorry for this little hijack. I just wish Telltale would hire some artists to start making 2D graphics again. Or create a 3D engine which LOOKS like handpainted graphics (ex. Street Fighter IV)

No problem It really IS a gem of a game if you like your adventures old-fashioned! It's true quality lies in the fact that EVERY item combination you try has a unique (and often funny) response. This little fact shows the love the creators have for the genre, because it encourages you to try every silly combination you can think of.

And the characters too zany. The remake of MI1 and MI2 made me very happy though, so I got my rubber-chicken-on-a-pulley-fix this year

Jebus, these guys really want to run their schtick into the ground. I'm sure this one will sell plenty of copies to casual gamers, but I'd have a lot more respect for Telltale if they started taking more time with each series and put out better games. I used to look at them as one of the last vestiges of adventure game makers, but at this point I just don't care anymore.

Jurassic Park is not going to go well, save for casual players that pick it up.
They cite Heavy Rain as an influence, but they don't actually include some of the good things HR did to the QTE style of game.
From what they've shown of Jurassic Park, all the action QTE scenes are just plain old dragon's lair where if you mess up once, you're dead and have to restart. The problem with this is that it's trial and error, or DDR, at times. Heavy Rain usually allowed for a lot of messing up before it killed the player, and how well or quickly you went through the prompts also had a little gameplay impact.

it'd better have a good deal, because saving $2.50 by preordering isn't much of an incentive. I hate to say it, and I hope I'm (dead) wrong, but I don't think this game is going to be that great. *preparing to get flamed*

After Jurassic Park, I think you're somewhat unlikely to get flamed. I've been an ardent supporter of TellTale. I literally own every game they've put out, pre-ordered every one I could, and have bought every Deluxe Edition I can get my hands on. I'm not going to buy this one until it's out and reviewed/the Deluxe Edition pre-order starts. I hope the heads at Telltale have realized by this point that not everyone thought that the Heavy Rain gameplay was worth emulating...

Put an hour and a half in to it. It's not too bad. But its not really much of an adventure game. You get to move around some in part of the game but its pretty restrictive. The puzzles are very basic and there's some minor action and quicktime events. Mainly you are just following the story. Which isn't too bad but awkard at times as your character tends to know things the player doesn't already know. There's also a few emotion based choices and a few times I got an emotional response I wasn't expecting or indending based on the text presented.
It looked like the game needed a bit more fixing up as at times the animation would stutter, particularly during action sequences. And there were some lip synching issues. Its a bit jarring when these things occur. Also for a game that takes place only 3 days after the outbreak some of those zombies look like they've been decaying for quite some time.
But I am enjoying playing through it. I do like the bond between the main character and the child he's protecting and there's plenty of different enviroments to keep things interesting.

Finished up the last 30 minutes of the episode (2hrs total) and do have to say I enjoyed it overall and looking forward to the next one. There's a neat little stat page after you finish that shows the various story impacting choices and the percentage of people that chose what you did. A nice additon.

I traditionally do not enjoy Adventure games. I can't get into Sam & Max, etc. I don't enjoy searching a room or scene for some sort of useful item to be used at some point in the future, with that being the only meaningful gameplay experience.
But I love the Walking Dead and I love zombies in general. So the question is would I like The Walking Dead game? Is it more than just searching for items and then clicking on a spot to use said item?

While there is some action stuff, I'd say most of it is walking around looking for and item and then clicking on a spot to use them. If you have a PS3, there's a free gameplay demo released (probably will be for xbox, too). I tried that out before buying myself. I don't know if the PC has a demo.

Crap, there's no way to invert the Y-axis and it is bass-ackwards for me. I personally wouldn't call this any kind of "traditional adventure" game, it's more along the lines of the direction they took with their Jurassic Park game more so than their Sam & Max or Back to the Future style games... but better. Yes, you are still looking for "hotspots" on the screen that you can interact with but they are highlighted (which you can turn off if you so desire) with up to four context sensitive actions. And the combat / zombie interaction falls into the QTE-lite camp to me, either line up the reticle on them and press the right button on time or there's the traditional click A-A-A-A-A-A-A and then a random second button to complete the action. It supports the XBox360 controller on the PC version, btw. I like the timed dialogue options, keeps things moving right along. And as noted they say that your choices will have an impact on how the entire series plays out.
