As people may know, the sequel to Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Rebirth is coming in 2 weeks on August 25.  Namco adds numerous soundtrack to the official site today.

I was surprised by its extensive use of symphonic and orchestral pieces.  Some of the soundtrack are very good, but you better like classical / orchestral musics.

This one requires Flash,

The rest requires Media Player stream,

Enemy Attack!

March!
mms://wm2.streaming.ne.jp/namco/04_vacl-1.wma

Birds chirps and I sing along.

The piece from E3 presentation.

The soundtrack is as good as any movie orchestral piece and is performed by New Nippon Philharmonic.

There is also a 3 1/2 minute trailer on the official site, but I don't think it's very good and hence no link here.

P.S.  By the way, the side-scrolling combat, now with 3D models, is done by the Tekken & Soul Calibur team at Namco.

Oh, and before it disappears forever, there is a very high quality trailer at the following link.  The trailer last over 7 minute (!!) and is over 60MB.  Definitely worth watching if you got the bandwidth.

Look for file hitsuji60_194.lzh, 57.33MB.

Type mofumofu into DownloadKey and hit the Download button to get the file.  No idea how long the file will last, so better get it fast.   biggrin

Nice post!  I loved the graphical style of Symphonia, but I didn't enjoy the structure of the battles (which were 95% of the game).  I think I'll have to give this a whirl though...

Sounds like the intro to the Ghost in the Shell movie 1, the first sound bit anyway.

I'm a real believer that good music can really push the emotional content of the scene.  Some developers really screw themselves over by not getting a good soundtrack.

Couldn't find the long trailer on that site.  When you say it comes out in two weeks, that's in japan right?

Yes - the US release is set for early next year.  I wish we were getting Tales of Rebirth as well, but I guess that's not going to happen.  Tales of The Abyss is 3D, so hopefully, that will get a US release as well.

Apparently someone manages to download that 7 minute trailer and mirrors them.  The following links are from Gaming-Age Forum,

Long new video (7m, 60MB)

I am assuming that these trailers are the same as one that I saw.  The part to watch out for is the combat system footage from 3:10 minute through 4:40 minute.

It shows off what the Tekken/Soul Calibur team had done by turning the combat system into 3D.  Basically it looks like any of the console fighting games where you can pick up enemy and flail them around as weapon or toss it up for your buddies to bodyslam it.  It also shows that you can combine special combos together into even more powerful combo.
