According to Irrational's Ken Levine.  Full story here.

I think if EA were to do it, it would've been just a regular first-person shooter with a boss monster at the end.

So if Bioshock does well could we see a true sequel at some point?

Wasn't this posted a while back?

Anyway, I doubt we'll ever see a true sequel to System Shock 3, it's just not EA's kind of game anymore, and EA doesn't give up it's IP lightly.

However, with the success of Oblivion, and the probably success of Bioshock, EA might reconsider.

I know that System Shock 3 was in development in some form, and at some time, at EA, but I'm not sure what's become of it.

Yea, we did.  I think that Irrational is going to blow people away, moreso without the constraints that EA might put on them.

Well, for one thing, Irrational can pursue the mature rating to its fullest extent.  A game where whether or not to kill children caught up in a biological resource war is one of the major moral dilemmas?  EA would never have published that.

Another rumor about SS3 being developed.  By the EA team that gifted us with Godfather.

It's not a rumor. The Godfather team IS working on it.

As far as GTA knock-offs go The Godfather actually wasn't half bad. It just became very, very repetitive especially from about the mid-point on. Granted, I took over literally every racket in the game and ruled the city completely but it was 40 hours I (more or less) enjoyed.

That being said, I have little reason to believe these guys can do a quality System Shock. But then again I never played the first one and hated the second one so maybe I'm not the best SS authority 'round these parts. slywink
