Like I'd sully my 360 by doing that.  Maybe they'll sell some kind of hammock-like device, and it can be suspended in the middle of the living room.

This just in: Microsoft knew of Sony's plan for a convex design, and made the "Xbox 360's design is inspired by the image of an inhale" comment just so they could say the PS3 design 'blows'.  Sony retorted by saying the 360 'sucks' in comparison.  More on this story as it unfolds.

According to Hirai, PlayStation 3 (now confirmed as the official title, apparently) will feature dual HD outputs. The supplied controllers are wireless, as stated earlier and use Bluetooth as a connection. These last 24 hours on batteries. The PSP will be a major bonus for PS3 owners. You can have remote access to your PS3 from your PSP, and you can even use a Wi-Fi connection within PS3 to use your PSP as a controller for a PS3 game. PlayStation 3 also features a "built-in network cap".

Why does Sony still insist on having the D-pad under your thumb instead of the left stick?  I mean, MS and Nintendo figured out that every game uses it for the main control input, yet Sony still puts it down in the middle.  I really don't get it.

So the logo looks like the Spiderman logo, and the controller looks like a Batarang.  When you turn it on, will it get bigger and turn green?

According to Gamespot we should be getting footage soon of Metal Gear Solid 4, Devil May Cry 4, Gran Turismo 5, Getaway 3,  Tekken 6, and another Killzone.

Eh, I enjoyed the first one.  Its chief problems were a lack of polish and a game a bit too ambitious for the technology.

Ralph, all of those are for PS3.  There's already a few shots floating around for DMC, Killzone, and a new Warhawk game.

I welcome chang3 (duh, stupid me, didn't get the l33t sp34k) but why didn't they stick with the same controller design they used for the first 2?  That controller looks bad enough to warrant a waiting period until a decent 3rd party controller comes out.

After seeing both the PS3 and Xbox360 controllers, I actually have a feeling that Nintendo couldn't do much worse no matter how freaking gimmicky their's ends up being

I'm really surprised Sony is this far along - I figured they wouldn't even have the unit on display.  According to IGN, some tech demos showed the actual Spiderman model from the Spiderman 2 movie and a recreation of the FF7 intro sequence both running in real-time on the PS3 :shock:

As for the controller, I couldn't care less about what it looks like, as long as it plays well.  The slanted D-pad and buttons have me concerned, but I'll reserve judgment until I've heard some hands-on impressions of how it feels.

I started laughing the minute the first picture of the boomerang was released.

I am still laughing...

No way in hell some 3rd party doesn't release an "alternate design" controller....  and makes a helluva lot of money doing it too!

I wonder if the new design has something to do with the Immersion lawsuit.  The lawsuit did have to do with the design of the dual shock controller and  maybe Sony is try to skip out on having to paying royalties.
