How do I turn off the pop-up notifications when someone on my friends list signs in? They keep coming up right over either subtitles I'm trying to read, or the battle meters that are critical to the game I'm playing. I just spent 30 minutes looking through every settings, preferences, and options screen I could find on the 360, and didn't see anything about how to turn those off.
TIA

Yeah, I dislike those things too and turned them off.
Then I noticed I wasn't getting my precious achievement notifications.
So I turned them back on.

I think we need to give congress achievements. Apparently they make you do anything. I bet we could solve any crisis in a month flat!

I know you can at least turn off all notifications while you are in a movie without affecting achievement notifications. Potentially in games too, though it's been so long since I looked at those settings.

Thanks. Could have sworn I checked there, but must have missed it.

I really wish MS would allow you to have 2 settings for notifications - 1 that notifies when friends log in and another that governs achievement notifications. It seems many players would like the ability to control both separately. I can't believe we've had this many desktop updates and MS hasn't implemented that.

It would also be nice to not have 'friend logged on', but still get 'friend has invited you to play' so people don't just not know their friends want to play.

Agreed. I really hate the achievement/friend notifications but would really like to know if someone sends me a message. Right now everything is just flat out off.

Yeah, it would be nice if they had more customization of those notifications like most IM programs do. I would imagine (or hope) that would at least be in the next version of the Xbox.

If you had a bigger tv the pop-up wouldn't block as much, so in reality it's really all your fault.
