I have a launch 360 and backward compatible PS3 that are both broken and sitting in my closet.

First question, is there any value with any of these?

Secondly, if so, do i need to worry about any personal info that i need to clean before i hand them over to a stranger?   If so, how would i do that being that they both are shot?

Keep the HD off the 360 if it has one and you can sell it off without a problem for parts etc. The PS3 is probably worth some cash on ebay depending on what is wrong with it and the model. HD situation maybe a little trickier if you had any downloads or purchases with it.

We have some stores around town that will repair 360's and PS3's.    You should try them.   If it's a 100 dollar repair and you can turn around and sell them for 150 or so.... then you've made profit.

the power supply, controllers and cables are worth something for the broken 360. The 360 itself then can be sold to a "repair" shop for 10-20 bux as parts.

When my original 60GB BC PS3 died I ended up selling it "as is" for around $70. Think it was something wrong with the graphics chip, it would start up but within the first 30 seconds I'd have lines going across the screeen and everything would freeze up.

The guy who bought it said his son repaired playstations and it'd give him something to do. That was over a year ago though, so don't know what the current value might be going for.. but you'll at least make enough to head out for a decent dinner.
