More rumours that LucasArts have something to show at E3

E3 is a great time for surprises, and wouldn’t it be great if LucasArts finally revealed Battlefront 3? Now I’m not saying they will, but when you get an invitation to come see an “unannounced game in development,” you can’t help but be optimistic. So, being the curious lad that I am, asked whether or not this unannounced title would have lightsabers in it. The answer wasn’t confirmed, but it wasn’t denied either. There has been numerous posts about Battlefront 3 being in the works, then being canceled, so anything is possible.

LucasArts did confirm they were using the Unreal 3 engine for a couple of games; an aerial combat game being one of them. Maybe an X Wing vs Tie Fighter title is in the works? What do you guys think? How about a new Jedi Knight game?

If the video is real, it would have to be a couple of years old, since it lists the Wii and DS as platforms.  Also, it shows the Jedi Knight 2 logo at the end, so I'd imagine it's fake.

ahh,it has been awhile since i played number 2(if that was the one on the original Xbox),if they say aerial then it could be that new JediStarfighter game that was also rumoured a year or two ago,and then there were rumours of a new Bounty Hunter game with that '1313' clue,i know a lot of you want a new X-Wing/Tie Fighter game

If i am faster than the CK Bot come the actual game's announcement whatever it be,i will change the title of the thread

That video would have been impossible to fake.  White font on a black screen?  Vaguely accurate Star Wars music?  A ponderous voice over of no particular character?  Only LucasArts marketers are so precise.

I'd personally be shocked if LA allowed a game dev to develop another JK game. IMO the themes in those were far too dark to be compatible with LA's current cartoon-lite approach to the franichise. Wouldn't matter anyways; LA has such love for mediocre dev studios and publishers that it'd end up being just another crappy SW game.

New Star Wars Franchise To Be Revealed Next Week

so doubtful its Jedi Knight if its a new franchise

A brand new Star Wars game franchise is currently in the works at LucasArts and will be unveiled next week.

Spike TV has the scoop and plans to go public with more information next Thursday in its GTTV show.

"I am blown away by both the caliber of the team on this project and their bold vision for this new 'Star Wars' title," teased Spike host Geoff Keighley.

"I can't wait to introduce our viewers to this game and show off the footage that left my jaw on the floor when I first saw it."

There's no word on what platforms it's coming to or when it might see release.

The brand's most recent video game outing was the underwhelming Kinect Star Wars on Xbox 360 earlier this year. BioWare's MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic launched last December to solid reviews but subscriber numbers have recently been falling.

Barring that, I guess it would be ok if it was Jedi Knight or Bounty Hunter. I could lower myself to those I suppose. Maybe Battlefront, although those games sucked and didn't have any dancing in them.

doesn't look like Boba Fett does it(1313 was supposed to be his codename or something in the EU)

but i will welcome this over another Force Unleashed or Lego game

CT-1313 was an alias that Boba Fett once used so I'm guessing the game probably features him as the protagonist. I quite enjoyed the Bounty Hunter game for the GameCube despite its shortcomings, so if done decently this would definitely work for me. At least its sounding to be a step in the direction of darker and more mature, which I'm pleasantly surprised about.

Ah cool, wasn't aware 1313 was the name of the criminal underground on Coruscant. IIRC the story in which Boba used CT-1313 he was posing as a clone trooper, so the CT-1313 was a tag for Clone Trooper 1313 - guess he just borrowed the numbers from Level 1313.  

So the protagonist could be any character from the Coruscant undeworld. Lots of great possibilities there.

Yes, like Blappo Tooht, the jigglingly obese Flatulon from the Stank Cluster.  Or Measo Hhoany, the small slanty-eyed guy who's really good at math and speaks broken pigeon-Basic.  Or Miser Infanticide, the horned hunter with a heart of tar and vocal chords to match.

I know the Star Wars games aren't usually as shockingly tone deaf as the things George Lucas has personally touched, but man, those movies really suppressed any desire I had to meet new characters from that universe.

I think it was in KOTOR.  Or maybe the second one.

EDIT:  I found this quote:

not working for you guys?,weird although IGN vids always take ages to get going for some reason with me

yer not really missing much TBH that we haven't already seen,mere seconds of actual gameplay and sure the cg looks nice,but Force Unleashed looked cool as well and that was one of the most disappointing titles this gen so I actually have very little hope for this

If I had watched that not knowing what it was I never would have guessed that it was set in the Starwars universe.  A couple ship designs aside that could be any scifi setting.

I actually enjoyed Force Unleashed a lot aside from one or two awful level, so if it’s at least as good as that I will be content.

I'm not sure why they are pushing videos and info this early when the game clearly won't be out for over a year.  I'll start paying attention once they show some actual gameplay with the real main character.
