Square Enix is doing a countdown (currently at 4 days remaining) to something called "Bahamut" at this site.  I have no idea what it is, but the piece of art they have at the site is absolutely incredible.

Holy crap, you ain't kidding.  That's just amazing.  Sounds suspiciously like a Hitoshi Sakimoto song as well.

Squeenix, you have my full attention.

Bahamut was one of the summons in FFVII (and I assume some of the others). That doesn't look very Final Fantasyish, though.

My guess is that Bahamut and Alexander join forces to punch the crap out of something. Probably you.

Is it possible to be a remake of Bahamut Lagoon? The oft praised but barely understandable Japanese only SNES game?

Bahamut and the Colossus. The Squenix sequel to the game we already played and loved on the PS2.

Or something.  icon_twisted

Someone over at NeoGAF says that it's a DS game called Blood of Bahamut, but I have no idea how reliable that information is.

Man, that would be awesome.  I remember trying a translated ROM back in the day, and while the gameplay was fantastic, it didn't make a lick of sense.  Would be very cool to see it get the remake treatment.

Gamekyo has some information and scans.  It looks to be an action-RPG that takes place in the city that's on the giant's back.

Quote
- The game will feature two protagonists Ibuki and Yui.
- They live in a fortified city built on the back of a giant.
- The giant will wake up during an enemy attack, our heroes must fight and defend their city.
- Cooperative multiplayer mode for up to four players locally available.
- The game will be presented at Jump Festa expo in Japan at the end of the year.
