Formerly a PC-only release, a version of Spore will be heading to the DS. No release dates or other details were given outside of the confirmation of the upcoming games.

In the past, Spore creator and Maxis chief designer Will Wright had expressed interest in bringing Spore to the DS and other platforms.

Jenson also said that more EA Sports titles will be making their way to Nintendo platforms.

“In short, we are on it,” Jenson said regarding DS and Wii support.

It's the perfect platform for it. I mean how much processing power can it take to run that?  thumbsup

Wonder if the PSP version is still on track.. (Assuming the "handheld" comments included both DS and PSP)

I'd be surprised if there isn't a version of Spore for pretty much every console.  I'd imagine they'd go the way of The Sims games, where they're different depending on the console.

Now that you guys mention it... and now that I consider who is making this game... that does make a lot of sense.  It seems obvious, really.

I will wait until I hear more to get excited. It is EA, and they might just be doing a quick version to cash in on the PC hype.
