Spore: Galactic Adventures--DVD required in drive?

I thought this was supposed to be an add-on for the main game.  But after installing it, I've got a separate entry for Galactic Adventures in Vista's Game Explorer.

Even better, when I click on the entry in Game Explorer...it starts up GA, with a Spore: Galactic Adventures splash screen...and then the game asks for the DVD in drive?  WTF?

I thought the whole point of EA's DRM method was that no DVD in drive was required.  Now I have to deal with Securom AND the !@#!@#!@# DVD in drive if I want to play Galactic Adventures?

Had a few add ons do that, namely Civ. Not really a big deal.

Yeah, those fuckers, its rough putting a DVD in. If DRM bothers you so much, you should probably read up on it before you buy something.

Yea, but Lee, the whole point with Spore was that they had this stupid !@!#!@#@#! intrusive Securom DRM with installation limits, but at least you didn't have to have the DVD in drive to play.

Now they want us to deal with BOTH?  Gamecopyworld, here I come...

Maybe they listened to people who were against Spore DRM. They decided to go back to the normal cd-check securom for newer games including The Sims 3 and now Spore's expansion and only use the online limited authentication DRM for download version.
