Wow. Those graphics are pretty awful. The character models being the most offensive. What's up with those portraits?  crybaby

I haven't really followed the game much until now, since it's close to release, but I'm quite worried. Doing some digging, I found the system requirements and they seem way too high for what those screenshots are showing me.

3 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
1GB System RAM
ATI Radeon X800 series, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series or higher video card
[edit]Minimum system requirements
Windows XP
512MB System RAM
2 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
128MB Direct3D compatible video card with DirectX 9.0c compatible driver
CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive
4.6GB free hard disk space

What is up with the processor requirements?!  That seems excessively high.

Thanks for the news siege.

Anyone keeping track on how many delays that is now?  I'm just sort of curious.

I know the delays suck because I am very anxious for this game, but I'd rather them do that than release a buggy piece of crap that many PC houses are churning out today.

Those screens on that last link continue to look like ass.  Those Dark Elves remind me of Everquest graphics circa 2003...

I've never been that picky about graphics in either my RPGs or turn-based strategy games.  While they're nothing special, they're more than adequate for my tastes provided the motion isn't herky-jerky.  What's odd is that the only graphics that really bothered me were the original NWN graphics, simply because the color scheme was horribly brown and gray - I prefer some brighter colors too, and there weren't any in the original NWN campaign.

For me, the story is the thing that will make-or-break NWN2.

I guess GameSpot got the news about pushing back the release date after they sent me an email saying that I could enter a code and download the toolset.  So I click on the link and get a frendly Bioware message that it's been pushed back.

How bout them apples?

That's a bummer.

Surfing that train-of-thought though... WarPig - would you mind posting some impressions of the toolset when you do (eventually) have a chance to mess around with it a bit?  Although I will most likely pre-order the game at some point, I know I won't have the patience to mess with it.

Well the gameplay is more important than the graphics to me as well.  NWN sucked for me, I hated it.  I have tried to play it at least three different times, including the expansions and some of the more highly recommended player made stuff.  Coming from BG2 and getting that single player and a braindead party member gameplay, I felt robbed.  But.  Those graphics, the character models specifically, just look...bad.  I am surprised, thats all.

Man, my standards must have dropped pretty low but I think NWN 2 looks just fine.  Admittedly, I expect less out of a game that is supposedly created using the exact same toolset that the community gets.

My opinions will be posted.  It'll be hard to keep me quiet.  I have spent a lot of time doing little modules for NWN1, mostly for my own amusement, and it becomes kind of second nature, understanding the flow of the tools.  I'm hoping that the new toolset is as intuitive.

On the bright side... it IS a Neverwinter game, which means (subjectively speaking) you won't be zoomed-in too often to notice the up-close graphics.

I know for me, I am much more interested in how the animations turn out, and how the graphics look from a more diablo-like perspective, as that is how I will probably play the game.  Now... if these also stink, then it may be time to raise a pretty big eyebrow to the devs.

Whats the bitching about? Do people think all the characters are supposed to look as good as something from Gears of War or something. That would be a waste of rendering as you arn't going to be zoomed in on them anyway. Try to do a little thinking about how the game is going to be played people...

I'm more concerned with the art style, rather than the actual technical aspects of the graphics and quite frankly, it's awful in NWN2.

Yes it has no style, the characters anyway.  And to me they do remind me of my DE Necro in EQ...in 2003.

That's the problem with a game that is meant to be generic.  Face is, D&D is generic, they're actually following the D&D art style to a T.

Im waiting to see how MP handles. I've spent most of my NWN time playing on persistent worlds. Waiting to see how the game handles these along with how the servers handle it (How large of worlds are supported, number of players, server specs needed, etc).

Looks fine to me. ~shrug~

As some of the other mentioned, to me is all about how they move and such moreso that the zoomed-in details. That DE model looks like it would look great when you are zoomed out to the default camera distance.

Anyone interested in reading a developer diary?

If you are, have a look:  Link to GameSpot

The picture of the "Ladies Man" background trait just makes me laugh.

I like your posts, just trying not to get to excited about the game so I can wait to get it at least a few days!

Plus, I've found that the non-combat skills ("Ladies Man") usually are pretty worthless in most games, where combat really dictates your play more.  I'd be interested in their was a "Ladies Woman" option too!

When the NDA lifts I'll be yappin. In the mean time, I'll just say that it is good and the screenshots don't do it justice.

Think about it Arkon... with your luck, it will be great, and the minute you boot it up to create your first character, your computer will blow up.

If you go to Gametrailers, there is a new (Oct. 6th) Developer Interview up.  It's about 2 minutes long.

I will wait to hear what you guys think of what they show, rather than give my opinion.

Here is the link.

I like. I really like. Of course, I was sold on this game already, but this video definitely helped me like my purchase that much more.
