So, the website is pretty cool.   Link

Is anyone here into fighting games anymore?  If you are planning on picking it up, which system are you going with: the 360 or the ps3?

I have always liked this series, and will certainly be getting it.

I have always been a fan of the soul caliber games.  I have thought about getting it, but I can't tell you the last time I turned on my 360 or Wii for that matter.

Already pre-ordered and mostly pre-paid. I'm going with the PS3 version on this one, and am looking forward to some mindless T&A. And that fighting stuff too.  thumbsup

It's on my Gamefly queue.  If it gets good buzz, I could be tempted to make it a purchase instead.

Never been a fan of fighting games.  Can't say why really other than it's pure unadulterated arcade and I never went to arcades in my youth and have never been interested in it in any fashion as I grew older.  Shame, too, as it looks cool.

I don't know about Soul Caliber, never heard of it.  slywink

I will, however, be buying Soul Calibur IV for the 360.

Technically the title is called Soulcalibur IV (for some stupid retarded reason), even though the series has always been two words in the past.

I'd like to get it, but a combination of shitty controls (the 360's d-pad is worthless), and the insane Star Wars crapola (this is a SC game, not a SW one), really brings it down in my mind.

We'll see in the end if I grab it.

Fighters are like sports games with me.  I absolutely love them for the first couple days, but once the shiny newness wears off, they end up collecting dust.   So even though SCIV looks very cool, I'll have to pass.

Hell yes I'll be buying Soulcalibur IV!

You can create your own fighter! And by playing that fighter you can unlock more stuff to customize your characters with and not only that but your character will appear in the cutscenes. Woot! So we get unlockable characters, items, and not to mention the downloadable content that NAMCO will release in the future.

I can't wait until the 29th! Whee!

I'm on the fence.  Just like Gratch, I oll around for a couple of days, and then kinda stop.  Of course, back in the day, I and my brothers duelled all day w/ SF2, Samurai Shodown, atc when they came out.  Now that me & my bros all own 360s...

And Sparhawk, it's not just that the 'create a fighter' mode from sc3 is back, it's that they integrated it with the entire game.  He/She will appear in cutscenes etc (or the review I read yesterday said that at least).  The first two reviews are up on Game rankings and they have is at 95%.  It's looking like they went all out to make this a winner.

I'll get it for PS3, though the T&A, as usual, really makes me consider skipping it. It's such a stupid thing to include in these games, and it makes gamers seem like Dale and Brendan from step brothers. "OMG B00BZ! JIGGLING!" disgust

Getting it for the 360.  I'm not really a big fighter guy but was a huge fan of the first two games (never played the third) so this is a no-brainer.  I hope that the single-player has a good progression method to it.

if I do end up grabbing it it'll be when it's down around 20 bucks for the 360 version.  I've liked the other SC games, but lately I haven't been into fighters too much so I can wait.

Originally it was a day 1 game for me, but  I'm on the fence now due to bad experiences playing fighting games with the poor d-pad on the 360 controller. I'm going to await some reviews as to how well the analog sticks are implemented for control. I really enjoyed SCII on the Gamecube, so if I don't get it for the 360 I'll eventually get it when I buy a PS3.

It's all but confirmed that they'll be adding the other Star Wars character as a purchasable (yes, it's already on the disc, according to rumors) shortly after launch.

I already have the PS3 version pre-ordered.  I like the dualshock controllers better for fighting games, plus playing Vader sounds pretty cool.

That's the only regrettable feature of the 360 version, the fact that we're stuck with Yoda. Did someone say we can download the other characters?

I'll just quote myself a few posts up:

In addition, from what I've heard of people that already own the game (Toys 'R Us ROYALLY screwed up with the game when they first got it), is that Yoda fights like absolutely nobody else in the game (including Vader). He's a nimble, jumping, annoying little fuck.

EDIT: And posts like these even further state that the purchasable stuff is even more real:

Quote
GamersReports has allegedly obtained another "quality exclusive" in three screenshots that depict Vader as a selectable character in the Xbox 360 version of Soul Calibur IV. To be fair, the report only suggests that Vader would be offered as an "add-on download" and does not specify whether or not that would be paid content or a fan service freebie. The site adds, "No word on when, or even if ever it will be released." Oh the suspense!

It's a given in my mind. The question will be for how much.

Because it's not a Star Wars game and it just looks ridiculous when you see Yoda tucked up next to Japanese anime-style fighters. I don't know, maybe it's just that I'm pretty burnt out on Star Wars in general but to me it looks just as bad as that Mortal Kombat vs DC Comics nonsense.

I'll get it when it gets cheap, and probably for the PS3 unless the analog stick controls are good.  I also never play fighting games much after I get them.  I would like to muck about with the character creator though.  The Star Wars characters don't bother me.  Soul Calibur has always been a fairly nonsensical series (Lizardman, Voldo, the dude with the gigundo axe, etc), so adding in some more nonsensical fighters is fine.  At least this time they put fighters that use weapons in as special characters, unlike Heihachi in the PS2 version of SC2 ("I block your four-foot giant sword with my arm!").

eh...Darth Vader?? Yoda??? WTF??

Didnt Soul Caliber games use to be rather cool japanese style games, with a great story, or am I confusing them with something else??

anyways, looks boring pure fight-till-one-drops-like, with 10 gazillion ways to do things, and in the end, you can just crouch and hit someone and they die...

and..eh. DARTH VADER? YODA??? WTF??!
