I'm almost done with the Medium difficullty and have been very impressed by the song selection.

I pretty much stopped buying mainstream music after high school and when I became a Christian I pretty much focused my attention in the genre picking up a few secular artists (I love Avril Lavigne  ) here and there.

But prior to that I was a 'headbanger' and still make it a point to jam to something at least once a week. slywink

That said, a lot of the songs in GH are new to me.

I've heard of a lot of the bands, but not the songs.

There's the SUM41 song that is just awesome.

There's that Ace of Spades song that is really good too.

Infected by Bad Religion is another one I'd never heard but really like.

But I wonder, if I had heard the song on the radio (rather than 'playing' it, if I'd like it).

Any gems you've turned up that you really enjoy listening to/playing over and over?

The only real DOG that I've heard is 'Take it off' by the Donnas. Blech.

"Even Rats" by The Slip is one of the best songs I've ever heard.

"Sail Your Ship By" by Count Zero is a good one, as is "Get Ready 2 Rokk" by Freezepop (although I like them better without the guitar).

I seriously didn't like much of the normal, non-unlockable music.  "Stellar", "Killer Queen", "Ziggy Stardust" and "More Than A Feeling" were pretty much all I played for fun towards the end of my engagement with Guitar Hero.

I'd already heard all the main songs, so none were a surprise or anything.  However, playing some of them in guitar hero has given me a new appreciation for the giutar work in them.  For instance, The Queens of the Stone Age song, doesn't sound very elaborate because the accents in the song make it just sound very simple.  However, when I played it in GH, I got to realize there is a lot going on between those downbeats at times int eh song.

Ditto.  It's shocking- even with five buttons- to see how complicated these songs are...

I haven't purchased any of the unlockable songs...instead I blew 8 grand on the grim reaper. He's meh.
