I got F.E.A.R.

Somehow I missed this one at the time, but sure am enjoying it now.
The A.I. is probably the best I have ever seen.

For those that have it, would you recommend the expansion?

And what games did you get???? drool

No one bought me any games for Christmas.  I bought myself FF XII, Call of Duty 2 (PC) and yesterday got Steambot Chronicles (PS2) for $10 at TRU.  That's plenty for me.

I didn't get anything myself, but I picked up Bionicle Heroes for my son.

He's having a blast with it.  I expected nothing less.  He has a huge collection of Bionicles.

Didn't get any games, but was able to purchase with X-mas $$:

-  Dreamfall (PC)
-  The Longest Journey (PC)
-  Syberia (PC) - Can you tell I'm on an adventure game kick?
-  Elite Beat Agents (DS)
-  Final Fantasy III (DS)
-  Xenosaga III (PS2)
-  Dark Messiah of Might & Magic (PC)
-  Rogue Galaxy (PS2) - Pre-order paid in full

TLJ, Syberia, and FFIII are still on their way to me, and I'll hopefully have them next week.  I'm hoping to finish Dreamfall tonight, and can't wait to fire up the other two when they get here.  Dreamfall definately goes on my "how the hell did I miss that?" list for 2006.

The only real stinker so far in the bunch is Dark Messiah.  It's an absolute piece of crap, and I'm kicking myself for dropping the $35 on it.  The jury's still out on Xenosaga III, as it hasn't done much to grab me yet after about 3 hours.

Got God of War for PS2. Played and beat on easy, having an absolute blast the entire way. I see another play-through on a higher difficulty level in my future.

only new game i got over the holiday was Tony Hawk's Project 8 (360).  i'm a big fan of the THPS games though, and it should keep me occupied for quite a while...if i can pull myself away from Psychonauts long enough to give it a shot.  so many good games... icon_cool

I got myself a pre-owned copy of R6, courtesy of Dante Rising, for the 360 as an early gift and some gift cards for future games.

I didn't get any.  For some reason, I really don't like receiving games as gifts.  I'd rather have something more personal -- or even better, get clothes so that I don't have to buy them myself.  There is something about clothes shopping that I abhor.

Go to a resale shop, you can get a whole bag of clothes for $10.00..  I would rather receive games or loot than something I can get almost free myself.

Heck no, why would I be kidding? I buy all my clothes at the resale shops, you can find some great stuff there, a lot of it with price tags still on them even.(assuming you have nice shops near you - we have 4 really good ones)  I couldn't imagine paying $30-50+ for a lousy shirt, thats just insane.

Around my house is resale-shop central.  It's amazing how nice of stuff you can get for next to nothing around here.  Too bad rent is so damn much!

I also know a few nice places to get furniture.  They end up getting the windfall from people redecorafting.  The stuff there is amazingly nice, and priced to move.  I need to keep an eye out for a bed frame; just got shelves at IKEA today.  That's the thing: if you want matched stuff, you have to buy new.

Theres a pretty high end resale shop a few blocks from my house.  I found a $400 pair of Armani shoes there once, brand new, for $25.00.  $25 bones is a lot for resale shoes, but a $400 pair?  Sign me up!  In the same shop, my wife found this purse;

http://www.coach.com/content/product.aspx?product_no=9069&category_id=68

For a whopping $29.00, looking nearly brand new.  Yeah, thats pretty insane. =)

For general shit like shirts and pants though, I just go to a cheaper one not far from here when they have $10.00 deals on all you can fit into a bag. I've crammed nearly 20 nice shirts in the bag they give me before.   ninja

I always wondered how you could buy 150 games a month.  Still though, it's beyond ridiculous.  Even if they only cost $1 each the only way you could possibly even give each game a decent amount of attention would be if you lived in a world with 36 hour days and and had no job or wife or kids.  Your Christmas loot list is enough to even shame Hetz.

You must have me confused with someone else.  Up until 2006, I averaged purchasing at best 3-5 games a *YEAR*.  2006 was a busy year, I purchased somewhere around 8-9 games.(all PC) Each has seen well over 40-90 hours of play in each one, I really play out my games.  PC gaming was huge for us in 2006, I didn't purchase a single console game for myself all year.

Edit: For consoles we tend to front-load the games.  We wait at least a few years after the console is released, then spend a $200-$300 on a shitload of USED games, and are rarely ever seen buying anything new.  Last Christmas the kids for a GameCube and a bunch of games from us and relatives.  This Christmas they got a PS2 from us, and a good number of games from us and relatives.  Anything from us was Used, anything from Relatives was new.

Saves a tremendous amount of money doing it that way, and there aren't any gaming gluts we have to wait through!

I got BF2142, along with a X1650Pro which is a good thing since I've been using a GF4ti for the last 3+ years haha.  I know the X16XX series is low end for most people nowdays but I game at 1024x768(my monitor's limit) so this card is a perfect match for me.

I love the game, it's the first BF game since 1942 that recaptures the 'feel' of the first time I played a BF game.  I played the demo for BF2 on a friend's comp a few times, it didn't do much for me.   Walking around in the Mechs causing havoc is worth playing the game for all by itself.

I got Gears of War.  But, since I didn't have a 360, I had to run out and get one.  Then I ended up getting Marvel Ultimate Alliance and bargain-bin priced Crimson Skies.  So it was a good Christmas.
