Beck – “Black Tambourine” Black Eyed Peas – “Pump It” Chemical Brothers – “Star Guitar” Fatboy Slim – “Gangster Trippin’” The Go! Team – “Bottle Rocket” Gwen Stefani – “Hollaback Girl” Hoobastank – “Born to Lead” Junior Senior – “Take My Time” Missy Elliott – “Lose Control” New Order – “TBD” Junkie XL – “Breezer” Stigmato Inc – “Reality Check”
This makes me sad. I really liked the music in the first one, why do they need to go more mainstream?

That looks wayyyyyyy better than most game soundtracks.
Beck, The Go! Team, Junior Senior, New Order, Chemical Brothers, and Fatboy Slim are all really good.
And can't you turn off the music?

Yeah most of those aren't too terribly bad or too mainstream. Unfortunately I have Hollaback Girl stuck in my head just from reading that Thanks a lot.

And can't you turn off the music? You probably could turn the music off, but why would I want to play Lumines without music? It is an essential part of the game.

I heard Hollaback Girl for the first time yesterday. Awful song and makes me think Gwen should stick with No Doubt. I like a lot of the bands in the list like Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim. Definitely looking forward to more Lumines action.

That list doesn't look too bad, but "Hollaback Girl" needs to go. Hearing those lyrics makes me go B-A-N-A-N-A-S. :x

As stated, half of the point of playing Lumines is the crazy music. It just fits somehow. Well, there goes any chance of me buying a PSP game in the near future.

The non-mainstream House music of the last one was what made the game, no question. If they had to go mainstream (worried that they couldn't catch lightning in a bottle twice, maybe), there are worse choices, by far. My fear is that I'm going to have to watch the videos for these songs while I play.

I'm asking the same thing about Ouendan's US version 'Elite Beat Agents'. I want the JP music...not whatever they consider trendy in the US. :/

It's like they took Lumines and followed the classic steps:
1. Take pre-existing game 2. Prepare sequel 3. ? 4. Profit!
Except the took the ? to mean: Make it suck.

Boy I don't really want Lumines 2 anymore. Dear lord...is that a real screen shot? Please tell me it's not a real screen shot. I've never heard Hollaback Girl either. If y'all are right and it does suck so mightily, yay for me! And never heard of it either. Sirius Satellite Radio for the win.

once I found out about the infinite pattern I couldn't play Lumines anymore, game lost all it's charm If it's the same video I saw, there's definately a spot to place every block at. It's really just an eye-opening video. I hadn't thought to myself that I could place blocks that way and have it so that they don't build up. Still, I usually tend to stray from that strategy and try to go for the major linking combos for a higher score opposed to longer playtime.

there was a way to place the pieces so that you'd be prepared for any piece that came to you and after they drop you're left with what you started with. Therefore unless you have a brain fart or twitch wrong you could semi-mindlessly play literally forever with no actual thinking. It became a set pattern of 'if the piece looks like this, it goes on this stack' and repeat. www.gamefaqs.com has a guide on how to do this.

I do know if I have a block that is: XO XX I just need to drop it on a single X block. That falls within the basics of what you are suggesting here. Can you provide a video link?
