Okay first some more DLC news that was mentioned in my above post
http://my.sleepingdogs.net/news/community-gift-pack

free of charge,16th October(tomorrow)

Quote
"We wanted to show you, the fans, how much we appreciated your support throughout the development of the game,"  says producer Dan Sochan. "So we created an in-game pack of some really cool items. In your in-game wardrobe, you'll find a UFG T-shirt which is the same design as the shirts that our employees and friends get in real life; a UFG-themed, environmentally friendly, mini compact car; and of course… a luchadore mask, which is an important symbol here at UFG.  Our meeting rooms are named after Mexican wrestlers, it’s on our company logo and we have a luchadore mask collection at our front door!"

The Tactical Soldier Pack arrives tomorrow as well for 160msp

Delving deeper into the underground world of Hong Kong’s illegal race scene, the Street Racer pack launches with three lucrative new races across the streets and waterways of the island: Kamikaze, a race up and down the winding tracks of the city’s Victoria Peak; Cross Island Enduro, an epic endurance motorcycle race; plus the high-speed Harbor Run boat race.

In your garage, a new Sting superbike will be available to take at any time, featuring incredible acceleration and handling, while in your safehouse's wardrobe you'll be able to find the new Dragon outfit with a racing jacket and helmet for reduced damage from both accidents and gunfire.
><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Then the Undead and Vampires make their way for Halloween to Hong Kong(Square Enix claim that they are NOT Zombies)

Oh Dear

Nightmare in North Point-4/10(EuroGamer)

Their main complaint was that it was too short and not much variety

Quote
Each mission completed adds a couple of demonic infestations to the map, but these are simply more brawls against the same enemies. The Jiang Shi are easily defeated by grappling them while stunned and only pose a threat if you let them grab you. Even the more imposing Yaoguai demons that pop up are hardly a challenge. You'll need to build up your Face meter or grab a peach wood sword before you can damage them, but once your blows connect, they go down in a few flurries. As horror goes, this simply isn't scary or even all that gruelling.

Those are the only new enemies on offer, so the episode pads itself out with a couple of half-hearted fights against more traditional gangland foes as well as a brief bit of scripted gunplay for no real reason. You can literally rattle through both the story missions and all the secondary tasks in less than two hours, and the story being told does little to add meaningful context to the thin gameplay.

Their closing paragraph is quite damning

Quote
Instead you get less than two hours of gameplay consisting of a few repetitive fights, and all you get to show for it is a new hat. Hardly worth getting out of bed for, let alone rising from the grave.

I just started playing this and on one hand I'm delighted by the story, characters, dialogue, and setting. It's a nice change of pace playing a game that takes place in China. However, I'm less than thrilled by the open-world aspects of the game. I didn't realize this was a straight up GTA clone... Date missions and all. At least the combat feels better.

unlike GTA, I recommend doing the date missions here.  They are short and each one gives you some tangible benefit after only one mission.

What's this, a complete remastered HD version for next gen consoles?  Yup.

Not sure why they would try to charge a full $60 for it when so much of the DLC was cosmetic or shortcuts though.

Out 10/14/14

Definitely, I just think attaching verbiage like "remastered" is funny.

That was on purpose as they usually make a point of with these releases.  For some reason, there is no mention of any improvements to Sleeping Dogs though.

According to the Amazon listing, the game has been "rebuilt specifically for next-gen consoles".  The PS4/XBO definitive version of Tomb Raider had a few things the PC version didn't, such as a new facial animation system and better hair animations.

Looks like there's more to this update -

"We're giving old and new fans a lot reasons to pick up the game, as we've gone beyond just increasing resolution and running at 1080p," said Dan Sochan, senior producer at United Front Games, in a press release. "We listened to the fans: We tuned gameplay, we added to the ambience of Hong Kong, increased audio fidelity and pushed the visuals further than we could on the previous generation of consoles."

I wonder if the PC version gets the update for free? If not, I might bite on the PS4 version. This is one of the few video games I've played in a long time that left an impression on me long after I stopped playing it.

Me too.  I really enjoyed the setting, characters and story.  It will be interesting to see what new features they add.
