It's being listed as coming out next month!

and more screenies.  I'm looking forward to this one.  I loved 2 but only got to play bits and pieces of 3/4... maybe I should play some catchup with them.

Well, I loved Silent Hill 2 - but found Silent Hill 4 (The Room) to be too difficult for me - or at least it was in a fairly early part that I got stuck in and couldn't get past!   disgust

If it has a difficulty level I can handle, then I'm IN!  nod

My big problem with the Silent Hill games has always been they are way too dark most of the time.  While I will admit the games are the creepiest I've ever played, it just gets old walking down a hallway and not being able to see and something jumps out and grabs you.

Why wait to play origins? It takes place before part one so technically if you played origins now, then waited for SH1 to be re-released you would still be playing them in order.

i know, but i want to play them together, like one after the other, like try and play all 6 in a week or two or something...i am hoping that SONY put the first game up on PSN,as my copy has stopped working(not sure why SONY are taking their time putting up great games on the PSN)

I agree that Sony is seriously sucking wind on putting up classic games but let's not forget that the onus is also on Konami here.

ok,as said(in another thread) i have started the Silent Hills after getting SH1 working again(somehow)..started Origins yesterday and have just finished it(7hr 20min)...good game, some puzzles were easy some were 'puzzling',i had to look on the net about 3 or 4 times,i played it on the PS2 and at times it can get very dark if you dont use your torch(if you use your torch the monsters home in on you)

the end connection to SH1 was dissapointing(a spoken line or two)

prolly start SH1 tomorrow...and i know i will be looking on the net for the Piano puzzle(last time i played this was when it was first released)

and although i am looking forward to Homecoming,i have heard its a different team working on this one and they have made it more action orientated,i hope we havent got another Alone in the Dark(pre PS3/360 patch)on our hands

finished Silent Hill 1 now,5 and a half hours....i was following a guide for most of the part and i got 197/204 items, not too shabby,LOL

got the good+ ending, but checked on youtube for the other 6(the sixth one being just a blooper real you get at the end of all the endings)

from what i hear SH:Origins,SH 1 and SH 3,all follow the story about the cult Alessa and Dahlia Gillespie..whereas silent hill 2 and 4 focus more on the wierdness of the town...so i am wondering what will be the main focus in Homecoming

I think Silent Hill V is the one where the town gets hijacked by Pyramid Head's half-brother who goes looking for a god.  William Shatner is lead developer.

Pyramid head shouldnt be in SH:H ! He belongs to SH2 and James Sunderlands subconscious, of course only if James is actually in SH:H...  If you have never read about the symbolism in the games this is a really interesting read :

I just think all the new creatures or whatever you call them looks extremly cheesy :

Same day as the console versions (also on steam!) but i have no idea about the console release date as they keeper pushing them back and then changing them again and again and again.

I am really struggling with whether to get SH3 or not.  I played 2 and thought it creepy and all that, but it got a bit boring and I suck at puzzle games.   BUT, I looooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeee horror games.  Five looks to be quite nice and a day 1 purchase for me though.

To get 3 or not to get 3.....hard to believe it is $24 after all these years.

i was wondering, after playing Silent Hill :Origins(if any of you have played this)...if The Butcher was related to Pyramid Head(LOL,maybe the half brother thing like you said)

here is Pyramid head(silent hill 2)

and here's silent hill:origins The Butcher

here is in action (1min3sec)

Oh I'm sure they referenced Pyramid head for the Butcher.  The question is, did the Butcher fit into Origins or was it just thrown into the game to fill the need for a force like Pyramid head?

And by the same token, we're all wondering why Pyramidhead is in Homecoming.  A lot are thinking that it was just thrown in to be recognizeable, instead of fitting into the character's personally twisted version of Silent Hill.

Speaking of origins, is it any good?  The shots I have seen seem to be a major step backwards graphics-wise from previous games, especially number 3.   And is it more action or puzzle oriented?

Origins was a PSP game first so that's why it's visuals are a bit of step back.

if you watch the gameplay videos there are some scenes that look like they're straight out of the movie, so they're probably right.

i liked the game a lot more than i thought i would(i played the PS2 version)...the graphics i never really had a problem with, silent hill games always look gritty...its just how it is,and when enemies get close, things get even more gritty,so the actual graphics seem fine to me

but like the GT review says, its part of the SH1+3 story about Dahlia and Alessa Gillespie and the whole wierdo cult thing...so you may feel lost if you havent played the those for a while(i know i did,but its all starting to fit in now i am replaying the later titles)..if you can remember those titles well(if you have played them),then i am sure the story will be fine for you

i would say much more action than puzzles, the puzzles were so-so for being hard...cant remember if there was a riddle difficulty level on that game...there is a kind of Rubics Cube puzzle near the end, which had me stumped for a while, but i just messed about for about 20 or so minutes and stumbled onto the right combination(the internet says there is a easy way of doing it,but i read that after i finished the game)

still a good edition to the games though IMO...need to get back to silent hill 2 tonight, maybe after the footy match icon_smile

EDIT:oh and i didnt have a problem with the camera in the game, when it swings in front of you,you just press L1(or was it L2) and it whips back behind you so you can tell what the hell is in front of you

EDIT2: and that GT review is pretty spot on ..apart from trouble with weapons,i always used a gun and use the auto aim R2(or was it R1?)..and yes i hated the Sanitarium as well

funnily enough, its nearly 2am now..and i am hearing a lot of strange creaking or noises around my house(downstairs and then upstairs) icon_confused paranoid

Not sure what the nasty caterpillar thing is, but the bar on the left is your health bar.  It only appears when it changes or when you call it up, this it keeps the view free of HUD elements.
