Now an owner of the Xbox I was wondering If I should buy KOTOR?
with part 2 comming out in a month.

I bought just about all the major titles that came out for every platform
so I am way over my head in new  games.

if you will have the time to play it eventually, KOTOR is an excellent game...one of the best i've played in the past year.  i'm not sure how important it will be before playing KOTOR-2, but it's a great game on its own.

Yes- you need to play KOTOR.

However it will take a decent chunk of your time so I would recommend holding off on it why you explore some other, shorter titles.

KOTOR just hit Xbox Platinum Hits line this week.

Hell yeah buy it right now!  I bought an Xbox to play it and it was some of the best cash I ever spent.

If you like PC RPGs, you will probably like this game.  That said, if you have a decent PC, get it on the PC.  The load time difference alone justifies that decision.

I cant wait for KOTOR2.  Its a damn shame the PC version isnt gonna make 2004.

I finished it recently and it's one of the best RPGs I've played.  So to answer your question : YES!  biggrin

Might as well - it's already available for $10 fairly frequently,  so I doubt it'll get any cheaper.  And it was a great game for $50 - at $10, it's an absolute steal.  And I'd definitely play it before KOTOR 2... too many spoilers!

Great game.  Better than the recent movies.  I played the PC version so I do not know how the Xbox version is.

I loved KOTOR.  Played through a second time right after finishing it the first time to see light vs. dark side....

That said; I think KOTOR2 is more or less stand alone, except for a plot point or two from the first one?

Yes, including the biggest plot point of them all.

Edit: Very well Kevin - though I think the original post was more than vague enough.

Laner, I'd recommend editing the previous post- that's just not a comment I would be comfortable having out in the open in a thread for someone considering purchasing KOTOR.

You should have bought it even when you didn't have an XBOX. It's that good.

KotOR is the best Star Wars experience in the last 20 years, including the prequels and all the other games, books, shows, etc.  It really is an amazing game.  You'll definately want to budget a good chunk of time for it though.  I can almost guarantee you'll want to play through it twice (once good, once bad).  It took me about 45 the first time through (playing good, which is much harder imo), but only around 25 the second time because I didn't bother with a lot of the side quest stuff.

BTW, how have we gotten this far in a KotOR thread without the bashers showing up?  I always thought those guys had some sort of radar that detected positive KotOR posts and launched heat seeking missiles to start up the inevitable flamewar.

YES. YES. YES YES YES.

If you're like me, you'll be so addicted to it that you'll play it untill you're finished smile

It's about 30 hours of gameplay, so depending on how much time you have, you could probably finish it before KOTOR2 sees release.

oh, yeah,

another big YES - i played the xb version, straight through, loved every minute - and i'm no huge Star Wars fans - seen a couple of the movies, played a couple of the games.  ALSO, i don't much like turn-based combat, but i played this game obsessively.  if all turn-based games used Kotor's system, well, i'd like turn-based games!
