Veterans will find that much of the humor and style has remained intact, and they will also enjoy the cameo appearances by previous characters.

Awesome.  Of course this is an insta-day one purchase for me, but I feel reassured about SH:FtNW after reading those reviews.

I'm still not sold on the character and story choices, but with the positive reviews, I think it'll be a day 1 purchase.  Game Informer gave it a very positive review as well (8.5, iirc)

I've got my pre-order in for this one.  I just tried Covenant last night and really like the Judgement Wheel concept.  Now all I have to do is wait to get my hands on the first one.

Somehow FF gets away with this, but Shadow Hearts just makes it seem like gay Vegas cabaret. I dunno, i really WANT to like this game and want to play it, but when I read about it I'm just not sure.

Yeah you know, I dislike how the direction went without having Yuri as the main character.  I really thought he was a great main character.  Moving to this 13 year-old Jonny Garland guy kinda disappoints me.  But Shania is in there, which is cool, plus the other characters (including that drunken cat) seem interesting.

I read in one review how the soundtrack is kinda "eh."  I disagree - I've had the offical soundtrack CDs for months now and love it.  Great stuff.

That's been my main reservation on SH:  FtNW since it was announced.  The past games have had such a strong cast of mature characters, and that has been a major draw for me.  I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the young characters are handled well in this new installment.

FWIW, I've got the soundtrack as well, and I agree with the 'meh' comments. (soory, Dep)  Mitsuda's work on the last 2 soundtracks was so incredible, and this one seems a bit lacking on comparison.  It's not bad by any means, but it's not up to the level of the past games in the series.

Yuri was 24, Alice was 20, Keith was 400, Zhu Zheng was over 60, and Margarite was probably in her late 20s/early 30s.  Outside of Halley (the one kid in the bunch), the main cast of Shadow Hearts is positively ancient by JRPG standards.

Yep it was.  Though, I was given SH1 free from a jolly "Fellow" around that time.

Actually, I'm a bit surprised that Shadow Hearts seems to have changed into a hard-to-find title. Just checked e-bay and amazon to see what the deal was.

I suppose the fact that you can still get it for the price of a newly released game is not too bad, but it's been out for quite by now.

Yeaaah those were a bit fruity.  I showed my roomies those cards when I was playing Covenant and they were a bit shocked.

I just want another main-character "hamster wheel" final weapon sidequest.
