Reading the the forums at Adventuregamers.com, Telltale games plans to make their second game a Sam n Max adventure game . They can't come out and say it offically because LucasArts hold the rights till May 2005. At that time the rights go back to Steve Purcell and it appears they have worked out a deal with him already. Their first adventure game is also much loved license in the genre which they just got the rights too. We should heat soon what that game is.

Here is a hint at what the first game is about

I'm a huge adventure game fan and I haven't a clue.

Looks a bit like Casper. the friendly ghost. I really hope that we finally get the Sam and Max adventure game that looked so promising, and it's a pity that they can't just buy the code from Lucusarts. (although looking at the state of that company, I can't say I'm surprised). Microsoft have no problem selling properties that they reckon won't be profitable, so it's a pity that LA is run by utter morons.

My first thought was Bone as well (and that would be great), but it seems like we're talking about a former adventure game character.  Hmmm...

Where did you find that hint, Rob?  On their website I see nothing about it being from the genre.  Maybe it is Bone.

More research shows this:

on http://www.scummbar.com/ with the following quote:

Quote
Something else that deserves your attention is this picture, showing Dan Connors, Kevin Bruner and Troy Molander standing behind "a computer displaying a character from one of their video games". I might be wrong, in which case I’ll edit this bit out later and most of you will never know, but the caveman character might have something to do with their new licence.

Of course, it’s also possible – and perhaps more likely – that said figure is actually part of the "fun smaller games" that Telltale have also promised on their web site. So don’t rule out Monkey Island 5 just yet.

Now, that character doesn't look familiar at all, and I find it hard to believe that Lucasarts, despite their current dislike of the adventure genre, would let that license go, but I thought I'd toss it in.

That said, in a poll on the site, most seem to think it will be Monkey Island or another Lucasarts franchise.  The only specific non-Lucas related listing: Boneville.

And in final research tonight, on the Telltale Games website, they do list  http://www.Boneville.com in their links, and Jeff Smith's site has news about this development team.  We very well may be on to something.

Look closely at the area circled in red on this picture:

Here's a close-up:

Those look like Bone trading cards and a Bone figurine to me.

Nice!  Didn't even spot that.

Hey, it's like our own little I Love Bees!

I Love Bones!

Wait, that didn't sound right...

My thought's exactly. I must admit though it has been years since I last read Bone (and even that was only a few issues).

Could someone give a little background on Bone?  I'm surprised that I've never heard of it.
