I played a little Skyrim over the weekend, but I picked up SR3 yesterday and after less than an hour I'm hooked on it. Best part so far is your character and the other guy driving around singing along with the song on the radio. Nothing like that in Skyrim nod

They had an achievement for that in SR2 when a certain song came on the station.

It was also synched better with the song.

Still fun in SR3, though.  I had to drive around a little bit extra so they could finish.

I'm confused about Gang Operations. I've come across several of these enemy gang groupings and each time when I attack them it doesn't seem like I achieve anything except to keep attracting more and more enemies till I die or have to run away.

To complete the activity, you have to take out all of the gang members with the target over their heads.  Others will keep coming, because as you're completing the challenge, you're also upping your notoriety.  The gang members that come rolling in won't have the target.

Just focus on the targeted members, running away to recoup health as needed, and eventually you'll end the challenge.  However, at that point you'll have a bunch of gang member on your tail, so you'll have to get out of there (it's especially annoying when the heli snipers show up).

You can also use upgrades to speed up how fast notoriety drops, which helps.

I have had a targeted gang member get stuck under some stairs where I couldn't hit him, so I had to start over.

When you finish the challenge, a percentage of the area is under your control.

It's been a busy month for games. I got MW3 and have Prestiged once, just to do it. I also picked up Skyrim and was really, really going to put some time in it. However, SR3 seems to have me in it's grip and now I can't stop playing  icon_biggrin

been playing the shit out of this game today-  it's actually pulled me away from Skyrim.  got up to the Penthouse crib, but other than that I've been doing side stuff.

somehow a tank spawned, I'm not sure why because I only had a police rating of 2.  anyways, I grabbed it and proceeded to cause mayhem.  I'd have kept going but one of the gang brutes actually stopped the tank and knocked it off a bridge into the river.

My character in idle mode just said, "My cousin hasn't called me in months.  Thank god."

I snarfed my drink.

Holy crap is this game fun. I've been having an absolute blast terrorizing the good citizens of Steelport. Also the humor is killing me. I just about lose it everytime Zemos speaks (you know why) and the tiger mission had me howling. I had to pause it because everytime the tiger would swipe my guy I'd almost fall out of my chair from laughing so hard. "A F$&@ING TIGER?!?!?" LOL. Oh and the character creation is unreal. Next playthrough I'm going as ridiculous as possible. Right now that's limited to giving my character jet black eyes (which is just freaky as crap in the cinematics).

Zimos is a fantastic creation.  He makes you wonder why no one thought of doing that before.

I have tears streaming down my face. The mission is http://deckers.die or something like that. After a lot of combat you enter a VR world. Hilarity ensues. But after more combat, one of the most inspired bits of comedy I've seen in a long while occurs. My character's voice is the male angry Brit and his frustrations and eventual tantrum when you screw up is causing me to laugh so hard I'm crying. This rules.

That one won Giantbomb's best level of the year for very good reason.  Pure genius from start to finish.

You don't think genius is over-selling it a bit? Asides from the character grumbling about being a toilet I can't even recall any of the dialogue.

I'll wait for reviews on that since

Spoiler for Hiden:
I got a taste of it in the last mission of the game.  I'm not sure I'd want to continue that for another chunk of hours.

modding support is coming to the PC version, and it is going to be a test run for possible support on other Saints Row games on the PC (like the new one).

Quote
Jeff Thompson, the Studio Director of Programming at Volition, is putting together a package for us containing documentation, file formats, tools, and more on the Saints Row: The Third engine. Myself, Minimaul, and gibbed will be working closely with Jeff over the coming months to use this information to create a robust set of modding tools to supplement our existing ones and creating what is essentially a full sdk for the game! But, that’s not all! Saints Row: The Third is only the beginning! Jeff has confirmed that he will also be digging up all the Saints Row 2 info that he can so we can do the same for it as well, and that this undertaking is actually a “test run” for Saints Row IV.

Seeing what modders could do with Saints Row 3 and 4 could lead to some very interesting things.
