I remember being the only person I knew with a PC that could run Ultima Underworld.
Yeah, Origin had crazy hardware requirements. Most people that had computers didn't have the higher end computers needed. And even with the higher end computers it seemed like most of their games barely ran well. I still have the box with the requirements for this one:
IBM or 100% compatible 386SX, 386 or 486 PC system
REQUIRED: 2 megs RAM and expanded memory manager, hard drive, 256-color VGA graphics
RECOMMENDED: Mouse, sound card
MUSIC/SOUND EFFECTS (optional): Roland, Ad Lib, Sound Blaster or 100% compatible sound board (Sound Blaster or 100% compatible sound board required for digitized speech)
Would be surprised if it could run well on a 386SX. I was on a 486 33mhz (later 486 DX2 66mhz Overdrive!) and the game barely ran. There was nothing listed as "Minimum Requirements" then. So basically had to do some guesswork. But with the Origin games basically knew if you didn't have the highest listed requirement it wouldn't run all that great.
