First impression:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

The game runs brilliantly on both my laptop and pc.   Running on high settings in slightly reduced resolution which look rather really good (can also run skyrim on medium) on my laptop with a nvidia 555M.

Game runs brilliantly on my desktop 460 2GB Palit with a i5-2500k on ultra settings, so does skyrim for comparison.

Game plays and controls wonderfully on PC, only thing i had to do was invert vertical mouse and set sensitivity, no ini file edits/hacks needed (unlike every other game i bought the last year or two).

Cars have clearly been designed to control with a keyboard on PC when using a keyboard....they really did design a control scheme that lets you have fun and control pretty dang well driving with a mouse and keyboard...a first for this type of game far as i know.

It does not feel like a console port to me...probably because it was in fact developed seperately in house for the PC....it feels like a PC game.

Looks great, runs great, gun sounds could be a lot better but i've bitched about them in every game since Rainbow 6.

I'm sorry, but I knew that I was in for a great ride with the line:

Johnny Gat: "How many Swat guys do you think we will have to kill?"

Girl (can't remember name): "Oh, about two waves."

LOL!

It also helps to play the game with the Walter White/Heisenberg character I created (from Breaking Bad):

good to know they put time into the PC version, I remember Saints Row 2 on the PC being a mess on release.  I have the 360 version coming from gamefly to try out, if I like it I'll probably grab the PC version.

Yea def grab it on PC if you got a rig that can play skyrim.   Not only does it run and control great, but you get a lot better graphics and far less (unnoticed so far by me) pop in.  It maintains it's good running and looks even at high speed (nitrous down a straightaway).

I've put about 3 hours in and I really like it.  The graphics are really nicer than I expected.  It runs great as mentioned above with no hitches and the pop-in is minimal.  The cars look pretty cool and handle differently, it took some time to adjust to using the handbrake so I could drift around corners.

The cell phone side mission where you have to defend from rival gangs is impossible early on. I'm around lvl 5 and it wants me to last through 9 waves?  I can barely get past the second wave.
It's debatable if it needs a cover system or not, sometimes I wish so but then it could cut down on the rampage a bit so I really don't think that it's needed.

I did turn on the video capture at 720P and didn't notice much slowdown.  A 10 second video took about 15 seconds to export from the game.  It does look like good quality so that should be fun messing around with.  I think you are limited to 30 seconds or so of video.

I got that side mission just 15 mins ago or so...only given 4 waves but i still didn't make it through the 4th...hard mission...need better guns.  Just got one.  The 2nd assault rifle you unlock is niiice even unupgraded.

Anyone else having voice sync issues with the cutscenes? For all of my cutscenes, the video is a few seconds behind the voices... the game itself runs fine...
My system should be more than capable...

Not at this point...i had an issue at first with synch and also sounding like i was missing stuff completely some in the cutscene, but that was solved by turning off some extra sound options in my realtek control panel, like DTS virtual surround.

My character's finalized look, took a few minor surguries to get it all fixed...it just doesn't look the same in game as in the creator on some stuff i think.

And yea....

I have to agree, this game is fun as hell and runs great on my PC.  I do think some of the textures could have been higher res for the PC release, and I definitely see character/pedestrian pop-in even on Ultra settings, but none of it is anything that detracts from the game that much.  One minor annoyance is seeing ATVs and dirt bikes driving around without drivers at a distance...

I tried to recreate Robert De Niro as he appeared in Heat for my character, but I think I need to go back in and do some minor modifications next time I play.  I'll post a screenshot once I do.

If it weren't for Skyrim I would probably be spending the next several weeks in Steelport.  smile

Yes, this HAD to come out at the same time as Skyrim. Seriously these two games look like a lot of game time between them.

From what I've seen, this game truly shows Volition could successfully revive Freespace and Decent if only those games included giant dildo weapons.  smirk

And really, what space game couldn't be improved with dildo missiles?

Wait... I've got it... LEXX: The PC Game!

Anyway, SR:3rd is still awesome. Played another few missions and it remains epic.

i'm havin so much fun...but i need some good co-op partners too:)

msg me on steam for co-op!  Either way...host or client...i'm game this evening and next...

Fuzzballx = steam community name.

Forum crybabies about game length are dumb as hell.  Steam says i've played the game 14 hrs now (i havn't left it alt tabbed any so that's actual time).  And the game itself on my save says my save has 10.5 hrs of saved playing time now (doesn't include retries or unsaved world goofing off i believe) and i'm at like 57% mission completions looks like.

That's not bad...shaping up fairly close to what a good paced playthrough of SR2 was for me i think.  Story started out with a bang, then slowed way down as the game uses official missions to introduce adn unlock all the activity missions...in the name of getting you prepped and ready for the real story missions...which is actually a good thing cause yer just not ready to dive into further story at that point:)  Cause once STAG shows up...and boy do they show up and become the big daddy of the story at some point....you really need those upgrades you've been buyin!  I would not wanna take on those bad motherfuckers without some seriously upgraded hardware.

Explosive bullets?  Yea those aren't just for show...you might need some of those...

"Like my daddy always said...if you can't beat em, join em...then betray them in a massive orgy of murder..."  -My SR3 character in a seemingly random comment while hangin out in  the crib.

One thing I noticed [that may or may not be intentional], is that it seems like in weapon, vehicle and armor designs they are starting to move closer towards the Red Faction style.  That chunky, futuristic style of Ultor seems to be everywhere I look.

Also, Steelport police have about the coolest cop cars I have ever seen.  biggrin

Question about the garage: If I take a car out on a mission and don't drive it back to the garage at the end of the mission, do I lose the car? I assumed so, and I'm worried about losing access to the Professor Cat Face Manapult if I inadvertently, say, drive it off a bridge. Also, I love the blue Tron-Like "Prius" (called Solar ingame)!

Customized and DLC vehicles and mission reward vehicles will simply infinitely respawn in your garage...a vehicle you just picked off the street and didn't upgrade any at a mechanic...that won't respawn.

What about if I just drop a car at a hideout garage?  If I want to use it again do I need to at least paint it or something?

Am I missing it or are their "missions" you can activate with special cars like taxis and ambulances? I remember GTA did this but didn't know if this was an option with SR.

Think that was primarily a GTA thing for making cash, don't recall doing it in SR.  The SR equivalent would be like the trafficing and snatch activities.

There's a hostage mission in SR, you hijack a car with 1 or more passengers and take off before they get out...hit a button to activate it as a hostage mission and see how long you can keep them in the car with the cops after you.

If you do the "save to garage" thing, it should stay..

Only one I've seen so far is the hostage diversion - if you jack a car with someone in it, you can try to outrun the police for a set length of time for a cash reward.

I'm having a hell of a fun time with this game, glad I decided to pick it up on the last day of the Steam sale. It's just like an amusement-park version of GTA - I think not taking itself seriously at all lends itself well to this style of game.

been playing the heck out of this the last couple of days, made it farther than I did in the 360 version.  aiming with the mouse/keyboard almost makes the game too easy-  once I got my pistols fully upgraded I was taking down gang operations without needing to reload my guns.

I've been going through and finishing up the side missions.  I figured out that I could easily cheese my way though Insurance Fraud by just going to the highway, and the Mayhem missions are fairly easy too since most of them give you the rocket launcher.  I'm kinda annoyed with trafficking missions-  I don't see why the game insists on switching out your weapons for less powerful ones with a lot less ammo than what you normally have.  I also love the Genki missions, but not sure if I'm interested in the Genki DLC.

and I'm done.  first Saints game I actually finished, and it was a blast  thumbsup thumbsup

I'm just going to wait for the DLC to go on sale before I grab any of it.  I finished most of the missions except a couple of Snatch and Escort ones, but at 96% completion I think I'll rest.  by the end of the game I was immune to almost everything, and had most of the weapons upgraded to infinite ammo, so the challenge wasn't really there but it was great being an utter badass in the last few missions.

This game is driving me nuts...and not in a good way.  I bought it off amazon during a half off sale and used the key to install it on steam.  However, everytime I start the game, the option to continue from my last save is gone (as is any save games under the load option) until I restart steam.  The it reappears as if nothing was wrong.  The steam cloud sync is turned on so I'm guessing the issue is with that.  I'm going to turn it off for a while and see if that helps.   icon_mad

Been wanting to try this but was concerned about running it on my aging Core 2 Duo.  Well free weekend proved it runs just fine and is a total blast to play.  Cranked it up last night after taking a break from Torchlight 2 and didn't put it down until way past 2 AM.  I am going to be hard pressed not to pick it up for $20 on Steam this weekend.  I don't need another new game right now but damn it's fun.  It's like GTA and Just Cause had a love child.  Minus the grappling hook unfortunately but that would have been messy.
