I saw a rumor that there is an in-store demo for Saint's Row available at Toys R Us (soon at EB and GS). Supposedly and shockingly, the thing costs $10. Maybe it's with a deposit on the game, but that seems to defeat the point of getting a demo.
Can anyone confirm this?

Strange, I heard one is supposed to hit the marketplace around August 1st. I'd much rather just wait than pay $10.

Supposedly EB is going to give this out when you preorder. I might do that. $5 and I can always get it back if I dont want the game. I just wish it was on Live instead.

This demo rocks! I was on the fence with this one and now I think it is a buy for sure. A lot of fun to be had in it.

I thought the graphics, in the screens I saw, were pretty shoddy, too. But it looks a lot better than you think in-motion. There are some framerate hiccups, but it doesn't really matter, it's a TON of fun. It's VERY GTA-ish, but seriously, the Havok physics engine makes it worth the price of admission alone.
I jumped on a car, and as it was moving, popped the driver with a headshot, while it slammed into another vehicle. It was insane!

While the game might be fun, I've had my fill of pimps and ho's and ganstas and fronting and all that retarded crap. San Andreas really annoyed me with some of it's dialog.

I loved GTA and Saints Row has exactly what I've always wanted in GTA, Homies! You can recruit homies (as they call them) to fight along side you and help you out, which is something I would have loved to see in San Andreas while going on my free roam killing sprees. If you go here: http://www.xboxyde.com/news_3184_en.htmlAnd click on the "demo cop video" link you'll see what happens when you go up against law enforcement (not my video just for the record) a few minutes into the battle he goes and recruits a woman to help him out in the gunfights. That alone (being the AI fan I am) is what's going to make me buy this game.

They did have that in San Andreas. Depending on your "rep" or whatever it was you could grab up to six(?) of your gang members that would follow you around. If you jumped into a four-door vehicle three of them would jump in with you and shoot at rival gangs, cops or whatever you started shooting at.

It must be in the story part of the game then, because as soon as I start in the world (by the bike with instructions to go to CJ's house) I end up having too much fun killing people and never end up getting there. I haven't seen a single person I was able to recruit to my party, and I've been just about everywhere in the GTA universe (without following the story line or doing the quests).
Maybe I'll have to have a look at trying out the story mode just to see this, as it could make an old game almost new again if I can bet people to help me out.

Finally got the new OXM and played the demo... seems an awful lot like GTA with more polygons. Graphics definitely not up to par for the 360, but the gameplay seems to be there.

Agreed, but I think I'm still in on this one. I liked the demo and have played it a few times, so they must have done something right.

I got the demo in the latest OXM and I am pretty happy with it. I went in not expecting much, but it feels like GTA with vastly improved graphics and better gameplay.
