Yeah, there's only so many resources you can devote to a game, best to dedicate them to characters and events happening in the current area focus, rather than all over the place. It also cuts down on travel times.

That wasn't the ending of the game. There are some missions with the character Reyes. Some of the last missions with him involve a lot of riding, just like missions with other characters, and he rambles on quite a long time. Sheesh, I know not to post spoilers.

Regarding the other thing, I thought that was common knowledge in the game. It's in the intro to the manual for heaven's sake.

I wish that they would allow fast travel from save rooms and not just camp sites. It's annoying when you die and you have to run outside somewhere so you can fast travel.

I have to agree that the characters have become typical 'Rockstar' once you make it to Mexico. Which has been a bit disappointing because the first main characters you get to know were so strong. It hasn't stopped my enjoyment of the game (which I still find great), but if everyone had stayed as compelling as Bonnie, the Marshall, and even Landon Ricketts, it could have been my favorite game of all time.

OK...I've progressed through a good bit of the story tonight (down to 5 missions) and I have to say that it looks like the characters are going to close out as strong as the beginning. The writing and the storylines for the people at Beecher's Hope has been refreshing after the over-the-topness of Mexico...I can connect again.

So...if you're not 'feeling it' through the middle section of the story, stay with it as it comes back around.

I did this in around 30 minutes earlier. I remembered roughly where and what types were located in West Elizabeth, so I grabbed those in a hurry, then made my way to Armadillo via fast travel. I sold everything in my pack that wasn't a Violet Snowdrop. Then I rode out just west of town, popped the map and grabbed up everything I came across at first...then keeping track of what was in my pack I rode for Mexico and headed east once across the border. Originally I'd intended to stop in Chuparosa to grab another map, but things went so smoothly through New Austin that it wasn't needed.

I was dreading this one too...but it really wasn't so bad once I had the 10 Violets.

Now all I have left is Sharpshooter 10 and I'm having a hell of a time trying to complete it. I made it once, but as soon as I got the notice I took a bullet to the brain and it didn't take.

As someone else pointed out above, it's not a fricking spoiler! Stop complaining!

As for the challenges that require you to do multiple things that can be hard to keep track of, such as the Survivalist challenges, you can click Y (on the 360) when looking at it to get a detailed overview of what you have done so far. It really helps and means that you don't have to sell stuff just to keep track through your inventory. You'll see a list saying stuff like "You've collected 0 of 10 Snowdrop. 0 of 2 Red Sage" and so on.

Yep, that's how I did it. I'd go into Dead Eye and shoot them once with the revolver in the hind leg. They'd start running away slowly and I'd just run up and stab them.

I wasn't even half way through the game when I posted, so I certainly didn't give away anything from the end, which btw I still haven't gotten to. I based my comment on what was written in the manual and what Marston says in the first couple of missions. I've finally gotten to Blackwater and I still haven't figured out what the hell the government is up to.

started to watch the short film that was aired last night, until I realized it was a mashup of the cutscenes in the game.  Lame.  Decided to stop so I wouldn't see any spoilers.

I cleared out the mines last night to get the gatling gun and right after I had a purple marker on the map for the "Funny Man" stranger quest. I went there and stood right on the very spot indicated on the map and saw nothing. So I left and put up camp and immediately got a message saying "Funny Man Quest Failed". WTF?

I fast-traveled to Armadillo and saved and now the quest is appearing on my map again in the same spot. It is no longer listed as "Failed" in my journal. But now I have to travel all the way across the map. It was late so I didn't bother but hopefully there is something there this time.

Just finished the story...very cool.

Without spoiling anything, you're not really finished until the credits roll.

Holy crap! I had some ideas on how John's story was going to end, but I didn't expect that. Dirty bastards!!!

In the cutscene at the grave sites, after Johns demise, when it pulls back to reveal Abagail's grave too, with a thunderstorm going on, then you turn around as Jack...I knew it was time to be an outlaw! After all 'my' John went through to do the right thing and have things turn out as they did...'my' Jack has no love for the law and will damn near shoot anything with a badge...100% for Feds, local sheriffs might get a pass depending on how my day is going.

Even though I've rolled the credits..I think I'm going to continue to play and see if I can 100% this thing. Only a few outfits to finish up and sharpshooter 10.

What about a sequel or prequel?

It's going to be at least 1914, and I don't know how much 'Wild West' Jack's story would have left in it, plus all his loose ends are tied up. Ross is dead, as well as all his family...I guess they could strike a completely new tale, but John's story still has a lot of background they could milk.

I guess I would rather have a prequel. Maybe John's early days with Dutch's gang, or even a new, but tied in character. I want less civilization, more gunslinging and savagery.

did the hunter missions as well...the only thing i have got left of the challenges is Sharpshooter 10(disarm 6 people),not all that sure how to go about doing that(can you kill the people afterwards before going onto the next disarm?..i use one of those Kraut guns that hold 15 bullets)

the only thing in Mexico i have left to do is the Aztec Gold Stranger mission,and for some reason it still hasn't appeared yet(i am half way through Act III missions and i have done all the other Stranger missions)

The only thing you can't do is hit the reload button. You can safely finish the challenge with a weapon with any ammo capacity, even well below 6. Reloads that happen automatically (such as free reloads during dead-eye) don't count as a reload for the sake of this challenge. I did it with the sawed-off shotgun while on horseback.

When I had to de-hat 2 people I shot off one guy's hat and then killed him then did the same to the next and it counted.

i have just watched a video of it- you can disarm the same person twice(as that was my main worry,them picking up their weapons again and shooting at me),i didn't know that,when you disarm someone for the second time it usually finishes them off...so this should be easy enough

i wasn't even aware there was a reload button


yesterday my time was about 60hrs i think...now Rockstar site says this

you could do that with reloading though,i got half of that one on the first Act 3 mission and then got the rest of it in a hideout side mission

First of all, I was really thrown off by the whole Ranchville series of missions. Scaring off crows, herding cows, not exactly the ending I was expecting after gunning down a zillion Indians followed by Dutch. And then the Army comes to get me, I must be a pretty dangerous dude. OK, after John Marston dies, I'm thinking, what a downer kind of ending. And then we do the whole Jack Marston thing. Now I see what was intended.

 Still, the end missions were kind of a letdown. I expected we'd find out why the government was employing John Marston to do all the hunting and killing. Oh well, I guess Jack getting revenge for his father will have to do.

Yeah, I was a little disappointed in the end.  I actually thought that Marston's family would die while the Bureau was trying to kill him.  Jack getting his revenge will have to suffice

I've finished all the story missions and all the ambient challenges, and I think I've done all the stranger requests too. Thought this would be enough for 100% game completion, but there's still a lot to do apparently. I guess I'll never reach that milestone.

Be warned: For some bizarre reason the game actually hides the final mission from you. I thought the game was over, but there was one more mission to go that I wouldn't have seen if I hadn't looked it up online. I have no idea why they did this.

The Ambient challenges include completing some specific random world encounters as well.

You get three soft porn pictures when you do a certain Stranger mission. (pretty hilarious actually)
