you can turn the auto snap off if you don't want to be a greenhorn    and yeah, the lawdogs can be quite brutal. 

Heh...I'm just not real comfortable with the joystick to aim technique to even attempt to go without. If it was PC and a mouse...all-natural baby!

I had fun taking out the bandit locations with you all last night.  I'm sad that it looks like there are only eight of them and they seem to be fixed things, rather than randomized.  Working with friends in free roam is fun.

So, any feelings on ps3 vs. 360?  I picked it up at lunch just now and I went with the 360 version because i have a larger friend's list on that platform.  however, the clerk was telling me that the ps3 version has some nice add-ins that the 360 version doesn't.

I was tempted to go 360 on this, but I don't play with the regular clique of people from here, at least not on a regular enough basis for the MP to really matter to me. I'm more interested in the SP anyway. I haven't even touched the MP.

The PS3 exclusive content isn't much to write home about, it's just a new outfit and an extra gang mission or something like that.

If you don't care about MP then either one is fine. If you want MP I can't see going with the PS3 version if you have both systems...

the only way I got into a game last night was via invites since, unless you want to have the public in your games, it's all private matches.

I had to take a break and sleep, much needed, but I am feeling refreshed, and should be one again soon.

I'm just confused because I thought this was a SP game with a huge, in-depth storyline, but it sounds like you guys are all skipping that to shoot at each other online?

They both have their perks Leo, to be completely honest, we never even did any of the MP games, we merely just rode the country side.

Do the Bonnie missions before you do anything else. Hooks you up with the Lasso, a great horse, and some cash.

Without the lasso, you can't capture bounties, you gotta kill em. Learned that lesson the hard way

i'm right there with you jaydee.  working from home, but unable to sneak out to pick up my copy, let alone play it.  it will have to wait until later.  i have been gorging on youtube gameplay videos, but i think that makes it worse seeing it and not being able to play it myself.

Got some weird things going on....

I wound up with a copy for the 360 and a copy for the PS3.    My intention was to keep both of them for several weeks and then sell one off depending on my preference and how much staying power the multiplayer has.

Well....  so my first test was to load both games up so that they are standing in front of the Armadillo station and compare graphics.    I immediately noticed the 360 looked FAR superior, which is usually NOT the case.    I flipped back and forth and realized that the TV input tag had the 360 version showing at 1080p (upscaled obviously), but the PS3 version was showing at 720p.     Nothing I have done so far has been able to toggle that to 1080p on the PS3.     Any ideas?

got as far as impressing the sheriff, & am now just out ridin' the range. to the extent that the targeting cursor's the size of a pixel, & i can't see it for shit a lot of the time, i'm going easy mode ...

Some of you may know that I'm a character in RDR ... now all of you know that I'm a character in RDR ... and it's always fun and weird to play a game where I can hear my own voice come out of one of the characters. Thinking about that while I made my coffee this morning reminded me of this post from the vault about a character I played in Ghost Recon 2 many years ago:

Ok on random encounter missions where I can take someone dead or alive..how do I get them alive? I have no lasso and I've beat them to death for a good 2 minutes and they just get up and run still. I finally have to shoot them.

I have tried some MP free fighting but it refuses to stay connected long. I just now got an update so maybe that will help. Anyone else get disco'd a lot?

I cannot connect to the code server yet. So no dlc for me or no outfit yet.

hmmm I'll check what my ps3/tv displays when I get home if no one verifies in the meantime.
Wasn't there a way to disable output resolutions so that the ps3 always scales to the resolution you choose?

Are you sure it's just not because you've been up playing this game since it came out and you're a bit tired?

I won't be able to try this until at least 10pm pacific tonight.  I'll post my impressions of this mission when I get to it.
