There's going to be a prequel to STALKER coming, and it's due the first half of 2008.   Now I know it will be delayed but I am IN!

Does it make the first one fun? No really, does it fix any of the targetting/combat issues?

Fun for you, who knows?  I had fun with the first one and didn't have any issues with combat. or targetting.  The only caveat is that I did not apply any of the patches since I didn't want to start over so if they broke something later on I wouldn't know about it.  I am going to do a replay as soon as they release the patch with the Free Play option though.

They say this one will be more open.  8 Factions, all with a-life, or dynamic missions.  As part of fighting with or against these factions you can capture outposts in the Zone, and eventually take over the enemy stronghold.

Wow, sounds really nice.  More than just a cash in.

The dynamic obstacle avoidance system could indicate that anomalies will now be dynamically placed, which should be cool.

A rework of the whole anomaly detection system is in order too, where you can buy different detectors, and such, especially if anomalies are no longer fixed in position.

I just hope they find a way to add co-op, but that's unlikely.

Ug...I just envisioned you running into the typical mob of 10-12 bandits who all decide to start throwing grenades at you...

I like to call that a bug fix...

I think I used grenades twice the whole game, and if they keep them as limited as I remember that shouldn't be a problem.  You're right about the 'bug fix' on some of those features.  The DX10 renderer should be nice.

Cool, never played the first one mainly because of the largely mixed reviews that I read about it. Seems cool though.
