the Runaway series returns. I need to remember to grab the first one off of GOG as I think I played it but can't quite remember. Luckily this one is supposed be independent of the others to attact new fans.

I got about 3/4 of the way through the first one when my PC ate the save file.
I haven't done the second, but I hear it's pretty good.

I subscribe to Comcast Games OnDemand. Not a great service, but they have a ton of puzzle games ( a lot of the gem matching and hidden picture games ). Anyway, they have the first two there. I finished the first one and just started the second.

Just finished this one. Overall, it was a very fun adventure, and definitely much better than the previous efforts.
Runaway 1 had great graphics, bad characters, difficult adventuring, and a total let-down of a finale. It was 'okay'.
Runaway 2 had great graphics, bad characters, bad writing, no humour, difficult adventuring and no finale. It was very very bad.
Third time's a charm, because while it was an uphill battle for the game to convince me of its merits (I didn't look forward to playing it, but felt like I should give it a go since I had bought it), it was a nice surprise. The story's fun, the writing is actually genuinely funny (a first for a Runaway game), and the game even has logic puzzles. The only times I got stuck and had to consult the (very good) in-game hint system, I thought to myself I could have figured those out on my own if I had had a bit more patience.
So, don't ignore this game because of the previous games, it can stand on it's own, and is one of the best adventures I've played.
