Pack 2 may be worth it, but I want some sort of buy 1 get one free deal.  (Actually, what I really want is two 3-song groups combined into a 5-song set + encore(s))

I can only hope they eventually offer the full GH1 library as a complete purchase for a more reasonable price, even as high as the full $60 I would spend to buy a brand-new off the retail shelf title for the 360.

Pack 3 is the most tempting for me, but dammit, I want a price reduction!

I hate how there is one song I really want (Ramones), surrounded by two songs I really don't give a crap about.

That's annoying and enough to make me not buy it.

I'm dead serious; if they'd just price 'em so that I could get them all for the price of a new game (reasonable, imo) or just release a remastered GH1 for the 360 to retail at $60, I'd be all over it.

I'll stop ranting before I get the whole mess going again, but just saying; it really sucks seeing that the songs I miss are available, and I just can't justify paying so much for them.

LOL, man, silly how they packaged a song I enjoyed playing in GH with a song I absolutely dreaded.

I'm sure they intentionally package the less popular songs (i.e. the crappy ones) with the better songs. Since you can't buy songs individually, how else could they get anyone to buy them?

The only pack that I would even possibly consider would consist of Crossroads (Clapton), Ziggy Stardust (Bowie), and No One Knows (Queens of the Stone Age).  I don't even really like the QotSA song, but it's a blast to play.

Well this seems like a pretty safe rumor.  But I'll reserve my enthusiasm until the pricing is announced.  Maybe they can get Gillette to sponsor these packs.  icon_wink  I keed, I keed!  icon_smile

I'd pay %50 - $60 for the whole kaboode.

those packs have some better songs, but the price is still too high for me to jump on right now.  put me in with the group that would buy every song in a heartbeat if they just made them all available at once for the price of the original GH game.  the idea of paying over $90 for everything sucks icon_evil

The price still irks me, but I must have Cowboys From Hell

Here we come reach for your wallet
You better drop those prices my friend
You see its been slow down below
Aimed at you we're the customers from hell

Deed is done again, we've won
Ain't talkin' no tall tales friend
'Cause high noon, your doom
Comin' for you we're the customers from hell

I'm surprised at how quickly the fervor died down over the GH2 DLC pricing. Did everyone just roll over and purchase the songs?

New tidbit about the pending 80s edition at 1UP.com today:

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3159220

So... does this mean that the songs are going to be available on XBL for one lump sum of $39 as an expansion?

If so, why the overcharge of the original GH1 packs? If not, how do they try to justify a simultaneous new release (with zero overhead) at a higher price than it's retail counterpart?

Yep, they've created quite the little mess for themselves.  It'll be interesting to see what they do.

On a side note, I'm a little surprised that there's been no info about what songs will be in the 80's pack.  We knew months in advance who was showing up for GHII, but I haven't heard a peep about this version yet.

I've been waiting for the next song packs to come available so I can ask the people who've bought the packs if they still feel the price is worth it to spend more than half the price of the guitar+game ($90) to purchase less than half the number of songs just from the career mode (roughly a third of the songs available in the game) with no additional peripheral included.

icon_wink

This news on the 80's pack is particularly interesting, MS and/or the fans will be in a bit of a dilemma here for the 360 release no matter how it works out, all due to the pricing scheme so far.

I'm too busy trying to 5 star the 48+ songs that came with the game before I even think about buying more.  Once I am done with the included songs, if I see a 3 song pack that I deem worth $6, I will probably buy it.

Put me in the "forgot they existed" camp.  I'll be watching for whenever they decide to drop the prices, but I can't justify $2 a song when they're being put into packs of 3.
