Well, I bragged about my little console that could, but it has now died on me. I have had it since January 2006 and it has served me well. I was playing Pinball FX and it just up and died. I will miss it.

I'm pretty sure that my launch day unit will die the day Rock Band arrives on my doorstep.

First rule of having a launch window unit- you don't talk about having a launch window unit!

Man, what a time of year for it to die. My sympathies are with you. I just hope to have m7 unit back before the holidays as I have a ton of nephews coming over.

I have this feeling of dread every time I boot mine up. I just know it's going to die the day before Rock Band and Mass Effect is released.

All I know is that I still have a valid Gamestop warranty covering my console. If it goes poof, I'll be getting one of the 'good' ones.

In the same boat here. My unit is at the "Device received at repair center" step. Guess I was lucky that at least I got to play Halo 3 and Bioshock before it crapped out but now stuff like COD 4 is out and Mass Effect is right around the corner so I'm starting to really notice it not being around.

Just checked the status of my device and it shows shipping back to me. That is pretty immediate turnaround because they just got it last week.

Got my 360 back yesterday. It has the same serial number, but a couple of things are different. One, the power button is very hard to push on. Two, my MAC address changed. Not sure what this means, really. Oh, also, the faceplate had a protection clear sticker on it over the infrared panel. So, I am thinking maybe they gave me a new box and put the same serial on it. Either that, or they put a new board in my old case and put a new faceplate on.

They wouldn't put a new serial number on the same xbox. If your Mac address is diffrent then that means a new NIC adapter, so you got your motherboard replaced.

I had a tech geek at HHgregg try to tell me that the PS3 was less reliable than the 360. I looked at him and asked if he was joking. He said "No, I still have my launch unit and it works just fine". The whole time I'm thinking it's only a matter of time fanyboy. I walked away from him praying that he would go home that night with his red ring shining bright, especially since he trashed both the PS3 and the Wii all the while being an Xbox fanboy.
