Anyone played the demo for Roller Coaster Tycoon 3?  It's pretty cool in that the game's in 3D now and you can watch yoursled ride the rides you make.  It's a pretty cool upgrade from the old versions if you ask me.

It is if it will run on your machine. For a large proportion of people it is borked, so unfortunately for me - whilst I can run it on my machine and i'm moderately excited (on behalf of my daughter mind smile )

For my daughters machine which is what is critical, it won't currently run so i'm not even thinking about this game till they release a demo that actually works. Talk about shooting one self in the foot, before the demo I had the game on preorder lol.

That's too bad about your daughter's computer.  I do know though that what we had before was just a demo.  I'm sure they will clear up the existing issues before the full game comes out.

Agreed, once I test it on the daughteres machine 1Ghz/512MB RAm if it runs ok and I mean it only has to run ok i'll get it. She loves the series.

You know, this is just like the Civ or Sims series.  I consider Railroad Tycoon and its ilk to be the cause of my "lost weekends."  Start on Friday and drag yourself away on Sunday night.  I'm not sure I want to go there anymore.

Is the new and improved version going to do that? If so, I may just stay far, far away.

Not sure, certainly when I showed it to my daughter it appealed just simply because she coul dnow ride her roller coasters, and wow we both felt sick afterwards.

They have never appealed to me in the same way. I guess I prefer shooting things to making things smile

I played the heck out of RCT, and the expansions. I skipped RCT 2 because it was the same old/same old.

I spent probably 90% of my time designing the rides, coasters, water rides, whatever you name it.  What I wanted MORE THAN ANYTHING IN THE WHOLE WORLD was the ability to 'ride' what I designed.  Well, this IS it, based on what I see in the demo, this is my dream come true.  If the only new thing they added is the ability to ride, then they have delivered the Holy Grail in my opinion.

Yeah, to me, this series has really taken the next step.  I have a feeling that this game IS going to be one of those that I start playing around with it on Friday and don't end up really stopping til Sunday.  So, I guess I'm looking forward to that.

I got it and really was wowed by the cool factor..

PROBLEM Is.. that I played the other ones to DEATH and I think I may have beaten it into the ground.

I got and played the demo - I fear my 64MB video card can't handle it (in the trusty ol laptop) - whenever I tried to ride a ride, it locked up.

But it does look like it's a refinement of the original RCT, and that's a good thing.

I was sorta worried about this when I heard they were coming out with the third one, but now that I got to play the demo and see the 3D and the Coaster Cam, I am totally psyched again.  There is no way I'll let myself miss out on this game.

I was impressed and it has gotten me into the mood again after being burned out by #1. This game really looks to be a true sequel and what #2 should've been. My only problem with the demo is that the time limit on it is so stupid. You have very little time to build anything before the 45 minutes runs out. Its not like they gave you the full game either.  Its also sad that the game seems to have so much trouble with older athlon chips.

I think the demo was just a little taste of what we can expect when the full game comes out.  I fooled around with the demo this wknd and now am sorta antsy waiting for the full version.  I think the different themes could be sorta interesting.  I found some cool screenshots over the wknd.  Check them out and tell me what you think: http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=20719&mode=thread&order=0

So I was fiddling around with the demo building my first roller coaster and it turned into night time.  First off, the night lighting was really a cool site but furthermore, I forgot about the fireworks show and it gave me that reminder and then started going, now that was cool.  I know you can design the fireworks show in the complete version, but can you do it in the demo?

I haven't tried to do much with the fireworks in the demo, so I'm not sure.  Let me know if you figure it out one way or another.  The fireworks look really cool at night especially if you see them on the coaster cam.

Cool.  Thanks for that link.  I'm going to give it a shot and see what it's like.  Thanks for that.  Much appreciated.
