apparently they've announced this at Gamescom at a Deep Silver event; no official PR for it yet though so it's all word of mouth.  it's cool that we'll get to see the story continued

yeah, the ending was an odd choice but I don't remember it being hard.  IIRC the bad guy telegraphs all of his major  moves and there's a simple pattern to the floor pieces disappearing.

I watched some videos on YouTube that showed how to beat him, but I just couldn't do it...I got frustrated after 15 or so tries and just gave up on ever finishing.

PB is awesome in my book. Although I agree that last boss fight was lame. Then again, I think all boss fights are lame. These guys are as slow as the Stalker guys so I'm sure it will be a while before we see it.

Great news there. Loved the original. The original wasn't even on my radar until after it was released and was discussed here. After 15 minutes of the demo I purchased it and played it exclusively until finish. Not too many games do that for me.

The sequel to Risen has been revealed, and surprisingly, it's already 80% finished.  It's going to be a pirate-themed RPG, which I'm glad to see after Armada of The Damned was canceled.

The problem with the game being 80% finished is that the last 10% of a game takes 90% of the total development time to finish.

Actually, I've heard people say exactly that in business, and it's more right than you'd expect.

PB is my favorite game Dev. I guess in the forum someone posted that the game is on Amazon and listed for release 3-12-2011. With 20% to go this does not seem likely. Plus why go up against DA? This will be day one purchase for me. I have enjoyed all PB games so far.

Could be that the date is listed in the date format that is used outside of the US, ie. day-month-year.

I sorta thought this anyway. PB is a great dev, but they are relatively small and not that quick. Tons of rpgs to play so I can wait. So 2012 may see my two favorite franchises, The Gothic guys and Stalker, Woot.

Set several years after the end of Risen, raging titans have devastated the world and pushed humanity to the brink of existence. Sorry bout that. I hit copy on the article and just assumed it copied that. My link skillz are weak. I have no idea how to do the short version either.
Back to the game. I just love PB from the begining. Even Gothic 3. Risen 2 looks quite interesting. The Island concept will be able to let them tell a story a bit more because they are limiting some of the islands til later in the game.Maybe they can finaly overcome my one complaint I have with them. Having a good ending.

I so agree with hating those boss battle endings that has nothing to do with how you fought the rest of the game. I was only able to win that last one due to you tube.

While the graphics look better, the gameplay still looks as frustrating and inaccessible as all of these other hardcore RPG titles, with various monsters assaulting you as soon as you step out into the world, and lots of complicated mechanics with not a lot of direction.

I'm thinking they chose the wrong author for that preview. Spellbound's Arcania already made the mistake of trying to change the Gothic formula to make it more accessible. Freeform gameplay in a harsh unforgiving game world is exactly what has made the Gothic games successful.

Your story starts on the coast of an almost forgotten island – the ‘Isle of Thieves’.

The Nameless Hero has been marooned on a picturesque beach on the coast of the mysterious Isle of Thieves.

The hero’s first thought of course is “How the hell do I get off this island?” and sets off to explore the beach and surrounding area, going a little deeper into the thick jungle, when he happens upon a little talking gnome who calls himself Jaffar.

Write 2 to 3 pages at a font size of Times New Roman 12 and tell us your tale of what you think may have happened next with the Nameless Hero and Jaffar on their first joint adventure.

Use these words in your text: “thief”, “jip jip” (gnomish for yes), “ship”, “trip”, “hat”, “rucksack”, “sword”, “feather”.
Of course every great adventure should end with some loot and we offer the following bootie as a reward for your efforts:
