This is the website for the new game from Tetsuya Mizuguchi, creator of Rez and Space Channel 5, announced last week for PSP. Check out the video, it looks totally wild.

I haven't played Rez, but have heard so much about it. For those who have, how does it compare to what you see in the video?

EveryExend is a Japan freeware PC shooter that came out last year. You can download it out here:

It doesn't really compare to rez at all. Rez was a railbased shooter. Every Extend is a sort of shoot em up/puzzle game.

Basically it is a shoot em up where you can't shoot. Pressing the fire button makes your ship explode. The object is to explode you ship at the proper moment to set up a chain reaction destroying as many other ships as possible. You earn points based on how many ships you destroy with each self destruct. Racking up points earns you extra lives (extends). It is a simple, fast, and highly addictive game.

The videos at gamespot look great, but they don't really showcase how the music fusion element is going to work. However, I am still stoked as shmups are one of my favorite genre's and Lumines and Meteos were both stunning games.
