My review is up here for Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain on the PS2.

I liked the game, but there are a lot of problems (controls, respawning enemies, levels that are too long) with it as well.  The biggest problem will probably be if you don't have the Network Adpater and broadband connection.  The game becomes several magnitudes better when playing each level with 3 other people versus you going through the game by yourself.

Shame.  Syphon Filter 1 was the first videogame I purchased for the Playstation and it totally hooked me.  Part two was reasonably fun - I still have a demo of the train level that I play on its own for kicks now and then.  Couldn't get into 3.  

I picked up a copy of the Omega Strain demo from last November with high hopes.  Instead, I learned that I just no longer can play a game that makes me run in football field-wide circles or stand still in order to turn.  I'm too scared to go back and load up the originals out of fear that time has ruined the controls there for me as well.  It's really sad, because I always loved their targeting system.  You could play it for skill or just lock on and hope for the best when things were hectic, but both were fast and responsive.

I'm still waiting for someone to deliver a third person shooter experience that holds up to that original, and the spinal thrill I'd get each time the words "Head Shot" came onscreen.

I just ordered Omega Strain from Amazon. One of my first PlayStation experiences was Syphon Filter 1. Ever sinse I've been hooked too.  Though I loved them all. 1 was a great game, but I liked 2 the most. I own all three. I ordered Omega Strain before reading any of this bad hype (and theres been a lot), but I'm still glad I did. The most dissapointing thing for me is (judging from videos I've seen) they've changed voice actors for Gabe. That low, monotone voice that I love is now some bad immitation. They can't do that!
