Gotta go with the GameCube.  The most fun, definitely - the nights I spent with my friends playing Smash Brothers hasn't be replaced by anything ever since.  And probably won't be.

Being mainly an RPG fan, I'd have to go with PS1, with PS2 running a close second.

For the time that it existed I really enjoyed my Turbo Graphix 16 w/ optional CD player.

It didn't have any of the top name games, but my friends would always want to come over and play the games it did have over the other systems of the time.

Dungeon Explorer
Racing game ( I can't think of the name )
Bomberman
Military Madness

and

Y's on the CD Player

Out of those, I'd say: Xbox, then Dreamcast, then PS2.

Considering that my PS2 collection is greater than my Xbox and Cube collection combined (and then some) I gotta go with PS2.

 Tongue

I voted PS1 because I love the RPG's but I can certainly see why Xbox would get lots of votes.

The title of the poll is "Which console system have you had the most fun with over the past 5 years."  We have a lot of readers that do enjoy sports, racing, and FPS.  I think an argument can be made that the best examples of each are available on the Xbox.

Your GameCube is a one trick pony.*  You've purchased THREE of them over the years just to play SSBM.  I can understand why you might vote for it. (* I am referring ONLY to TML's Cube.  Calm down.)

At first I was surprised to see the Xbox in the lead, but this is a subjective poll.  It's which one provided the most fun.  I can see Xbox taking the top slot simply due to Live play.  Facing off with a friend over Live is a whole new experience for a lot of people.  I know I've had the most fun in a long time playing two games: PGR2 and UT2k4.  Both because of online play.

If this was a poll about best games, most diverse lineup, or something like that then perhaps the results would be different.  This is about providing enjoyment.

I was going to vote for the PS2 (diverse game library, ability to play PS1 games) but I think I'll go with the leader, the Xbox.  Most fun I've had with a console in the last few years.  You, TML, have a lot to do with me voting for it since we've had a lot of fun playing online over the last few years.

Over the past 5 years, I gotta go Dreamcast.  Skies of Arcadia and Samba de Amigo made me giddy to be a gamer again.

Out of those, I've had the following:  N64, Gamecube, PS2

I'd rank them as follows:

1. PS2 (best game library, both in quantity and quality)
2. N64 (good for its time - my brother still plays Goldeneye with his friends)
3. Gamecube (haven't used much, though I plan to get RE4 and Eternal Darkness eventually)

The most FUN with?  Then I would have to say the Cube.  Playing Smash Bros. with three other friends is a whole lotta fun!  Perhaps unparalleled.  Though, Xbox NHL2k6 has been great too, now that they made it so more than one person on a team can play ranked games.

But, in terms of fun factor, had to vote for the Gamecube.

I, of course, voted for the Cube, because it made me like consoles again. It was definately different from PC gaming and I liked that.

I also loved how the controller felt in my hands, was really comfy, much like the 360 controller. They just feel right. So when you add that to games that I'd never get on my PC and games that were new to me, didn't play 64 except for a few months before the Cube launch, and it was a perfect combo to get my good in console land again.

I was very close to voting for ps2 thanks to the GTA games. But the most fun has been playing co-op Halo with my wife. I would trade my ps2 for that any day.

Had to plunk down the Cube, 'cause of Mario Kart. Playing Baby Park drunk on a slow night is so much fun.

It's a biased choice though, since I've only owned a PS2 for half a year, and never owned an Xbox.

Sega Saturn.
No contest.

The first time I fired up Sega Rally I was in awe.

And then all of the great, great 2D fighters and shooters for it.

Then there was Panzer Dragoon Saga.

And of course all of the great Japanese games played via Pro Action Replay.

The racier version of Duke Nukem 3D.

I also liked that it was the underdog, competing with the PS1.

I love me Saturn  nod

How easy is this modding?  Do I just buy something with stuff already on there and all it takes is a simply installation?  I've always been curious and with no broadband in a few weeks for awhile, I have no need for live.

Most of the modding I have seen requires soldering.  I havent looked in quite a while though.  If I could play SW:B 2 and Burnout Revenge online with the 360, I'd probably mod my xbox as well.  You can do some pretty awesome stuff with it.

softmods are definitely possible (and desirable, IMO) - no soldering required... you don't even have to open your case.

One of the primary reasons to mod your xbox is to replace the hard drive, the component most likely to fail. That obviously entails opening the case.
