Famitsu has a two page spread on Resident Evil 5 in their latest issue. The article says that RE 5 will be on both the 360 and PS3. No mention of the Revolution. There's some scans floating around the net. Looks like gameplay is similar to RE4, but the graphics look fantastic.

I'll see if I can find a link to the scans.

Yeah I read that this morning. Just as I was wondering which moron at Capcom greenlit RE4 as a GCN only title, they have redeemed themselves with this smile

That just sealed my getting a 360.  Have to now cuz Rez 4 alone is my only reason for having a Cube now.

I may have to stop reading 360 posts entirely!  Now I know how Starshifter feels waiting for those darn DVD's... it's starting to hurt every time I'm reminded that the 360 is only a few months away.

First - of course - ES: Oblivion, then Resident Evil 5... any early talk on possible release date of RE?  I have to start planning my autumn and winter.

Ow

I can only guess it would be at least late next year.  When RE4 was announced it took about 2 years for it to actually come out.

Don't forget Shadowrun too.  That was just accidentally confirmed by someone who is working on it for the 360

IGN has a RE5 trailer up: http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/734/734381/vids_1.html. Game looks like Resident Evil atmosphere with Half Life 2-caliber graphics.

Oh, great!  One more game I won't have enought time to play, lol!  At least it sounds like they're in the really early stages with Shadowrun, so two things could happen:  it'll be made into a game I wouldn't really want to play (not too likely);  or, it'll come out well past Oblivion and I can worry about it later. Any RE fans out there recognize who the new main character is?

I haven't really followed the series, I just know some general names.  He doesn't look like Leon, but that may be darker hair and more polygons.

Thread Necromancy....

Just saw this at gamevideos, it's some footage from some capcom dvd, but there's some RE5 gameplay in the background.  Redfield looks like he's on 'roids, but damn the game looks sweet!!!  So very high on my most wanted list.

It looks good, and this is one of my most anticipated games . . . maybe it was displaying an early build but weren't all of the death animations in that video the same?

I don't s'pose they've taught the main character how to run and gun, have they?   I tried RE4, would've loved it - if I hadn't been shooting the ground so often while trying to run forward...  icon_frown

Wesker was the betrayer.  Yeah it's Chris Redfield as the character in this game.  He was one of the people you could play in the OG RE.

Very much looking forward to RE5 and I'm happy that Capcom is taking it's time (maybe too much time...) but I'd feel better if Shinji Mikami was back at the helm.

I really loved the Wii version of RE4, too.  I'm in a bit of a quandry now about which one to get, in fact.  I'm leaning toward the 360, though.

My secret hope is that we'll get a RE4.5 on Wii in addition to RE5 on 360/PS3.

This has been my secret hope too since going through the superlative wii version of RE4 about 3 times. RE5 looks like the graphical sacrifices would have to be pretty steep for a wii version. I say, take that already stellar engine you made for 4 and make a 4.5 or 4 Part II, or something new for the Wii.

I'm not so concerned about the story but more what JCC said- take the RE4 engine and basic gameplay systems but with an all new adventure.

At least in the movie you can walk and shoot, aim without needing a divining rod, turn properly, and it takes place at more than the speed of a glacier melting.

Ouch, that's quite a wait - IF it actually is ready then.  I will get the 360 version IF the dreaded no-run-and-gun is not part of the package.  If it is, then I'll go with the Wii... for some reason, having my hands farther apart (not on a single controller) helps with that just enough that I can play the Wii RE4... not extremely well, but manageable, lol.  saywhat

Oh, and I forgot to answer this back when it was first posted:

Well, it probably won't matter, I should finish RE4 - which got derailed by "trying out" Final Fantasy 12 - just about the time RE6 will come out for the XBox... with all of it's camera flaws fixed just for me!

I also wish I'd win the lottery.   Roll Eyes

There were some rumors circulating around months ago that they'll be a 2nd RE:Umbrella Chronicles which would feature levels based on RE2, 4 and 5. Unfortunately nothing concrete materialized out of them.

I'm personally quite pumped for RE5 on the 360. I missed todays movie at E3, but if it has co-op play as others referred to in other threads, I'll be that much more pumped for it!

Oh I will likely be in for RE5 on the 360 too, assuming it plays like 4 and is favorably reviewed.

I just still wish we'd get a RE4.5 for the Wii and not another lame light gun sequel.

RE5 footage didn't do much for me.  Don't get me wrong- it looked really nice and I'm excited for it, but it was pretty much just RE4 gameplay with a new, nicer skin of graphics.

from the looks of gameplay footage at the the MS E3 event, it still doesn't look like you'll be able to move and shoot at the same time...

The upside down scorpion things were in RE4 smile. They start as zombies and then those things pop out when you shoot them enough.

I watched the RE5 trailer today. I was impressed, and it looks like a lot of fun, but it struck me watching it that RE4 was one incredible looking game. RE5 looks better, but the main improvement to my eyes was the increase in resolution and removal of aliasing. I'm not sneezing at how RE5 looks, but commenting more on how incredible RE4 looked.

Just watched the game trailer on XBOX Live and it looks great!

I really enjoyed the RE4 and I have feeling that RE5 is going to be better.
