I've seen several lukewarm reviews of Republic Commando (RC), but finally decided to break down and get it. What a great game! The squad controls make sense and are easy to learn. It's got an interesting story and settings and you can save whenever you want (!!!!!!!!).
Recommended! Get it.

I do not understand any of the lukewarm reviews. Yes, the game is strictly an evolutionary take on the FPS genre, but it NAILS the Star Wars "feel" and mythos, and does so without A SINGLE jedi, force power, lightsaber, or anything of the sort. It featured a cool main character, a neat squad that I grew attached to, some excellent, exciting FPS combat, great graphics, star wars sound and story, and I liked it very much.

I played part of the demo and it seemed cool. What I didn't like was the helmet/visor/HUD. I felt so claustrophobic. I wish they'd skipped that crap and given a normal HUD. Maybe it's one of the options - I dunno. It reminded me of Deus Ex: Invisible War with the crap all over the screen interfering with my view.

I thought it was great as well, and I normally hate FPS games on consoles. Maybe I can enjoy it more because I haven't played the glut of other FPS games, but I thought it was fantastically well done.

Yup, it was a blast. Felt very similar to the original Dark Forces (in a good way).

Actually there is a single lightsaber Saw it too. The quote he uses is a little out of place, no?

Actually there is a single lightsaber Saw it too. The quote he uses is a little out of place, no? Yeah, the quote was definitely out of place and a bit unoriginal. Kinda like some of the quotes from the latest Clone Wars series. They were just stretching for references to the original trilogy.

I'm playing RC on the PC and I just reached the third "chapter" set on the wookie world of Kashyyyk. The game keeps getting better and better. I had so much fun clearing out the final hangar full of droid dispensers and fending off the attack at the end of chapter two. It's a fun game.

Just finished this one. Great game and the best Star Wars release in a while. I'm with everyone else, don't know why this one didn't receive higher reviews.
Anyone know if an expansion is in the works?

For anyone that has this on XBox, how is the live play? I'm debating selling off my SW:Battlefront (none of my friends play it online) and picking this one up instead.

You find a lightsabre laying on the the ground in the beginning of the second level, the abandoned Republic ship.
