http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzFSBVuD-Co&feature=relatedI'm pretty thrilled about this game. I accidentally preordered it and it might be the best mistake I ever made. Final Beta is starting soon for the people who preordered. Finally a game that models peripheral vision and the like.

Aye, it looks extremely cool - As I mentioned elsewhere, I'm more excited about this than BF3 which...eh..I won't start that debate again - Anyways - bring on the bullets!

Very nice. I also like how smooth all those realism aspects are implemented now. In the mod and other semi-realistic games like it, such features were all clunky, putting the player into set states of movement or action, disallowing any other actions into you pressed the buttons to get out of the state.
You should see how they're handling MGs.

MG's and vehicles are both very well done imo.

How so? consider my interest piqued.

I'll see if I can find the videos.
Short version is that MG's can be braced or mounted on pretty much anything you could in real life, and it's instant. If you are near a window ledge/table/tree stump/whatever and you bring up iron sights on an MG, bipod is deployed and you're stable. Also prone deployed is very well done and looks great. Perspective is correct.
Vehicles are hard to describe without the vehicle. Basically you can switch from any crewmember instantly, but if that guy dies, you physically switch to their chair.
The game seems to be well done for the hardcore realism purists across the board. Hope they don't f it up.

There is also weapon collision with the environment - i.e. rifle will bump wall/window jamb... hopefully this will mean weapons won't be sticking out from solid surfaces.
There is also semi-auto cover, so you can hide behind objects, look over them, or look around corners easier.
I'm going to pre-order this one soon.

the MG brace reminds me of Day of Defense but better. I really love the idea of weapon/ground collision. it was one reason i loved the hell out of the first vietcong game back in the day.
the only reservation i have is how well this aging pc will handle it. at least it passes the basic reqs.
small note that green man gaming has a 20% coupon code which you can use to get this for $28, and it being steamworks, registers with steam. whether the perks you get for that 8 bucks is your call.
i have been itching for a semi-realistic war game and ww2 is almost a relief after all the modern day games lately. just good old fashioned killing.
i'll probably pre-order this soon myself.

Also, MGs will pivot around their bipods, with the gunner behind it moving to get things sighted. If you move the view too far to the side, you simply pickup the MG and place it back down again facing that angle.
I'm not sure if normal rifles will have similar behavior when braced as well, but all weapons do this.
I didn't realize auto cover worked like that. I hate how much you expose yourself to fire in these kind of games when trying to peek out and shoot.

Beta is out and open for those who pre-ordered the deluxe version. Loving this. Most realistic without being a pita I've ever played. It's very, very hard.

Game is awesome, I can recommend it strongly to anyone who thinks they would enjoy WWII setting and realistic and smooth gunplay and combined arms.

I want to get it but in my part of the world, the MP is hopeless with the pings I get and lack of local servers.
I may still get it though.

When I tried connecting to US servers for different games, my average ping is around 300-350. Not quite good enough for FPS.

Wow, this game is hard. Played for 20 minutes and never shot anyone I knew of. I got 28 points somehow.

Does the regular version on Steam includes the beta access or is that only for the digital deluxe edition?
I'm still planning to pick this up but probably on the last day of the sale if the beta access isn't included with the regular version.

If you get it from Greenman (Assuming the sale code is still good) you get the DD version for 35$. Check the deals forum.

Greenman code still works. I just picked it up for $34 (to the detriment of my wallet).
