I'm looking for a few xbox games for the 360.  Any opinions on the following? (Also, how well do they play on the 360?)

Black
Fatal Frame
Fatal Frame II
Battlestar Galactica
Conker
Mechassault 2
Pariah
Silent Hill 2
Silent Hill the Room

I'm particularly curious about the FF and SH games as Halloween is around the corner!
Muchas Thank You.

Fatal Frame II spawned the worst nightmares I've ever had.  I can't comment on how it runs on the 360 because I've only played it on the original X-Box, and it's the only game I've ever quit because I was too afraid.

If you want to have fun being "scared" for Halloween, rent yourself a scary movie.  Or visit a spook house.  Or spend the night alone in an old abandoned asylum that was shut down after the inmates rioted and started scooping the eyes out of the attendants while they were still alive.

If you want to be scared -- really scared -- play Fatal Frame II.

Don't get Battlestar Galactica or Pariah.  Mechassault 2 was meh.  The first one was better.  Silent Hill 2 was better than the Room, IMO, Fatal Frame 2 beats that.  I loved Black, personally.  And Conker is good if you like platformers, but hard.

while i have played quite a few xbox games on my 360, i have never tried any of those.  i can say that Conker is a very fun game that's worth playing...loved it on my N64, and the xbox version isn't much different (they censored it some though).  i can vouch for Ninja Gaiden:Black, Jade Empire, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Psychonauts, and Sphinx & the Cursed Mummy as being great original xbox games that all run without a hitch on the 360 icon_cool

I still find it funny that the game, which set records at the time due to the mess that Conker spouted during the course of it, was not only UNCENSORED on the N64 (or at least was beeped out so 'poorly' where it was rather clear what was being said), but that the Xbox version was censored.  retard

Battlestar Galactica
- Meh. I played about 2 hours of it and felt very bored.

Conker
- Good times if you enjoy the platform element and can enjoy the humor of the game.

Mechassault 2
- I loved the first game, but most people, myself included, were very underwhelmed by the second game. I don't honestly remember why at this point. I only remember that I barely played it before moving on. I think I got my fix from MA1.

Silent Hill 2
- The atmosphere in this was awesome, and I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. It's no RE4, but it's competent.

Almost every one of the games on your list is probably worth picking up though, since aside from Conker I think they can be found used for 5-10 bucks.

Black is a great shooter and absolutely worth the price you can get it for these days.  It truely is gun-porn, and I loved just shooting the crap out of everything.  My only complaint is the unskippable, boring breifings between missions.  I really hope Criterion is working on a new game in the series.

I like platformers in general, but Conker didn't hold my interest that long.  Some of it's humor is good fun, but a lot of it is immature crap (both figuratively and literally).

oddworld strangers wrath isnt BC yet...people have been shouting for it though, same with MGS2

okay,those games

silent hill 2 and 4 are great,no one liked number 4 apart from me,LOL...but i have just bought it again for the 360 and it plays great, and i was also suprised at how good the graphics were, especially when looking through windows into the city streets...and as long as you have the north american version of number 2 it should work fine...as its only the PAL release that isnt BC

fatal frame which i have just bought(under the title of project zero here in teh UK)....isnt BC yet...i remember playing both games ages ago and liking number 2 a lot more, and it is more creepy

I'm probably alone in that I liked Mechassault 2 better than 1. The thing I didn't like about it was that the bosses were too easy in the SP campaign, but that was compensated for by the cool body armour they introduced and the added ability to hack other mechs. If your goal is to get into some mecha multiplay fun, 2 fits the bill very nicely for both online and offline; conquest mode was particularly good. Either way both 1 and 2 are good and you can pick them up for cheap these days.

Silent Hill 2 is also an excellent game. There is however the odd boss fight that's unnecessarily difficult due to awkward controls, but they're more the exception than the norm. I agree with Metall, while 4 isn't as good as 2 it's still worth playing and it's also BC.

Black I absolutely loved this game. A bit short, but a total blast (pardon the pun) all the way through.
Alot of the environment is destructive and adds to the mayhem. All the firearms seem very realistic from their strengths and weakness' to their sounds.

Conker Like a couple people here have said, basically the same as the N64 version. Don't bother if you have the N64 version as you probably won't notice any differences. I played the 64 one all the way through, and the only thing I noticed different was when they actually told you it was different. Then again, I only played the Xbox one part way through due to this very reason, but I'm assuming if there's virtually no changes up until the half way point, there will be very few, if any, after that. Oh yeah, and the multiplayer is much worse in the Xbox version. Yeah, it's online at least, but you can only have one player per screen, they took out the best mode (Beach), and when you get shot once, all your opponent has to do is time it so that when you're about to finally get up, shoot you again before you get a chance to even control yourself(which is too easy to do). You'll get knocked down again, the process is repeated until you're finally dead. Yay! FUn!   finger Roll Eyes  retard Get the N64 version if you've still got one kicking around.

Mechassault 2 I don't normally like Mech games, actually, I normally hate them, but this one (and part one) are pretty good. Part one might've had a better single player, but the multi in part 2 was better IMO.

Silent Hill 2 To be honest felt like a poor mans' Resident Evil, it wasn't terrible...but felt like it was missing something....kind of like the first Silent Hill on PS1. Then again, I think if you liked the first one, you'll probably like this one as they felt very similar to me.

Can't vouch for any BC-ness as I don't have a 360.

I've never played Fatal Frame II but Austic Angel's mini-review on it makes it sound awesome. I'll be picking one up for sure.

i never understood it either...a nintendo game that was more offensive than something on the xbox?  the N64 version had some of the worst language beeped, but they left a lot of stuff intact.  apparently it's pretty much all edited in the 360 version, and i've heard that they even removed a few complete areas/scenes that were considered 'weak' parts of the N64 version (less fun, difficult to control, etc).  i don't know any specifics though...

also, if you haven't played it on the pc, the sequel to the longest journey is also bc.  a bit on the pricier side however.

i've got these bc games:
panzer dragoon.  pretty, but it seems somewhat shallow
crimson skies.  a great game to pick up and usually very cheap.  lots of fun sp
phantom crash.  a japanese mech lite game.  i haven't played this yet
phantom dust.  i picked this up on a fluke.  seems fun but i haven't done much with it.

I thought Silent Hill 2 was awesome when I played it, Resident Evil always felt more action-oriented while Silent Hill felt more about suspense. I haven't played Fatal Frame 2, but SH2 scared me pretty good back in the day and had a cool story to boot.

I have reservations about the Fatal Frame series though. I'm a huge fan of RE and SH, but when I tried to get into the first FF game I had trouble and quit early. Is FF2 supposed to be an improvement?

Panzer Dragoon was an awesome "rails" shooter. One of the only noteworthy ones I can think of from the past 5 years.

Crimson Skies is hella fun. Strong single player campaign (and by no means short).

Phantom Crash wasn't my cuppa java. Never owned it.

Phantom Dust was amazing. The CGI and the story were overwrought, but the underlying plot was compelling, and the game mechanics were a blast. You need to get to the point where you have multiple decks before you say "wow". I'd love to see a sequel to it (native to the 360).

FF - never played the Fatal Frame games; I'm not much for survival horror games.

SH - Played these despite my avoidance of the genre; from what I recall they delivered scary well.

MechAssault2 : better story than MechAssault 1, and because you can "get out" of your mech suits and work with powersuits and vehicles, it made for a much more diverse gameplay. I MUCH preferred MA2 to MA; MA seemed more like Rock-Paper-LaserCannon.

I think it got mediocre reviews due to how simple it was and how short the game was (I beat it in 6-7 hours) plus the fact there was no MP.  Bacially it was a prettier Doom with lots of things blowing up, which is never a bad thing in my book.

Yeah, there's not a lot of depth or variety to Black but for the bargain prices it goes now it's very recommended.

It felt like playing a Tony Scott film which put me off tremendously because of how overblown it all was in addition to having an utterly incomprehensible story line that was poorly told to boot. Then I sort of got into it by the third mission or so and enjoyed it for what it was. I am curious whether they'll have a sequel or not.

I read somewhere they were working on a sequel...I thought it was on here, but maybe it was in EGM. Also, it MIGHT'VE just been reported as "sources say"...as in unconfirmed at the moment. Does anyone recall seeing this?
