Semi-acquatic egg-laying mammal of action

Surprised I didn't see a thread on this yet.
The demo is hitting stores as we speak (got ours yesterday).
The featured level is from the same part of the game we've seen in videos
beginning with this cinematic at IGN
and proceeds from there. It does not include the boss fight that you've probably seen if you're reading this.

Gameplay controls felt very smooth. It's very easy to get into and is a lot of fun.
Visuals look good, though there was an excessive amount of tearing.
I don't think it quite falls into the category of "playing a Pixar movie" as
some have suggested, but it looks good, and there's a lot of stuff going on.
Didn't have trouble with the camera and one of the shoulder buttons centers it.
Nice ambient sound effects of explosions all over.

I've never played a R&C game before, but I'm definitely looking forward to this.

That would be exclusive to PS3, sorry. I don't know whether this is a "system seller" per se,
but I'm under the impression the series is quite popular.

This is the one PS3 game I am really looking forward to this year.  I am sure Insomniac will do their usual great job.

FWIW, this is an older build and the tearing issues have been confirmed to have been removed in the final game.  Also, the demo will be hitting PSN on October 4th.

PS3?  Excellent!  I can add another game to MLB The Show, which right now sits alone on my PS3 gaming shelf.

Possibly Uncharted.  With all of the big releases this fall I'll probably pass on Eye of Judgement and Folklore unless they get great word of mouth.

I played this at PAX and it was more R&C fun.  Don't expect anything revolutionary, but if you enjoy the series, it seems so far that this will satisfy.

I saw Eye of Judgment at PAX and it is just amazing.  If you like collectible card games I think you owe it to yourself to get this one.

I'm looking forward to playing this one someday, but it doesn't feel like a system seller. But I'll add it to Motorstorm on the list of games to buy (hopefully around $25) when I finally get around to owning a PS3.

(It used to feel like an absolute guarantee that I would someday own a PS3, but I'm not 100% sure anymore.)

That's what I thought, Kevin, as I hadn't seen that last week, but thanks for the confirmation.
Am I the only one that thinks that PS3 is gaining just a little bit of momentum?
Obviously there's a long way to go, but at least there's some positive stuff to talk about.

That's because Sony is finally keeping their mouth shut. smile

"Better to be silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt" ... or something like that.

This is one the series I wouldn't mind trying out; I've never played them (due to me never owning a PS2).

Maybe I will roll by and preorder-can always get the 5 bucks back, and two weeks is like 14 days away I think!

Yeah, but the game is still more than a month away!  That's the big reason I haven't felt like grabbing this from the store.  As much as I'm looking forward to the final game I don't see much difference in me playing it now versus a couple of weeks.

Actually was thinking about that in the car and agree completely. I am overloaded with games now and in the next week to the extent I almost am not sure where to start now that I have returned from my week vacation(not really vacation)-so I am going to wait for the official download with cleaned up graphics and enjoy it then!

Same here.  I briefly considered trying to grab it on last Friday when word about the demo started to hit but I figured that I didn't really want to take any time away from Persona 3 to play it right now so I probably wouldn't get to it for a while anyway.

I'm just concerned with how available the game is going to be this week.  With the last minute change of ship date I'm worried that a lot of retailers are going to get nervous and just resolutely stick to the October 30th date.

The Gamestop I pass on the way to work everyday has a huge R&C poster with 10/24/2007 on it. So I'm sure you'll be able to get it there.  I was listening to Insomniac's podcast dated 10/18, and they were still referring to the release date as 10/30. They even mentioned an R&C X Play special to be aired on that date.

So yes.  Alot of confusion...

Yeah, but I'd prefer to avoid Gamestop so I don't have to get a guilt trip about preordering.  Would much rather grab it at Best Buy, Target, etc but if I have to go to GS to get me some R&C then that's what I'll do.

Just ignore what your Gamestop folks say to you about preordering, or just interrupt them nicely when they start up their spiel.

I don't know why people are so damned afraid of Gamestop's policies. They're REQUIRED to say this crap. God.

I for one will be buying this (at a Gamestop no less) when it comes out this week.

Er, I'm not afraid of them.  I just don't care to be harassed when I buy a game.  I don't care for the theatrics of "Did you preorder?  No?  Let me see if I can dig around a find a spare copy but  next time you really should preorder it."  Then watching the clerk trying to make some kind of connections to make me preorder another game - "Like R&C huh?  Wanna go ahead an preorder Secret Agent Clank for the PSP?  Platformer fan?  You've got Mario Galaxy preordered right?"

Honestly, Gamestop pretty much broke me when they looked at me point blank and said "Don't have Halo 3 preordered?  Hope you won't mind waiting until February to play it."

It's really sad that I can be in and out of a Best Buy faster than I can a Gamestop.

Exactly.  It sounds strange.  But I would much rather be completely ignored by the Best Buy associates than be harassed at Gamestop.

I only buy used games at GS.  If you take advantage of the Edge card plus their used game specials you can actually get some good deals.

R&C demo won't be ready this morning.  I'm trying, but I just can't get it complete.  I'll say this - the game is solid.  If you liked the demo, you'll  love the full thing.
