Sweet!  Hopefully this'll stir up the nest and get some people playing again.  I certainly like GoW, but I prefer RB6 overall.

For all I've heard people say they prefer R6 to GoW, the fact stands that I have yet to have a single person ever send me an MP invite for R6.

This is awesome, and I have some more info as well. Rumor has it the M-16 is coming into the game, as well as the MP7A2 and some other explosives. Makes a great game even better.

Oh, hell yeah.  The M16 alone could sell it, although I'd love a full classic weapons pack (M16, Thompson, M1911A1, maybe an M1 Garand and BAR...)

We played a lot of R6 when it came out.  Harkonis was the main person organizing things, and when his 360 died so did the R6 for the most part.  The only reason that Gears gets played as much as it still does is ATB.

With a very few exceptions, for a game to still be actively played by board members there has to be at least one person willing to set things up and get it going.  Not too mention of late people have been busy playing PS2 games and Wii games as well.

More than likely, this is gonna be the "tactical" M-16, the shorter version. I doubt you will see WWII era weaponry though, they tend to have the R6 games use bleeding edge tactical equipment, and the BAR wouldn't really qualify.Ya never know though.

What I want is this pistol, the Springfield XD.

Actually, as far as assault rifles go, this gun might be a great one for them to add.

http://world.guns.ru/assault/as25-e.htm

The Sig 550 or 551 for the tactical model. The 552 is already in the game, but these two models actually might be cooler.

We played a bunch last friday night.  There's usually a thread in the multiplayer forum.  Looks like we'll be playing again this weekend.  Why don't you send me a friend request, and if you're on, I'll see that you get an invite when we play.

This news has turned out to be true Frown.

Here is the official statement:

"The downloadable content for Rainbow Six Vegas X360 that was originally slated to release end of March has been delayed. We will communicate on its new release date as soon as we can, but rest assured that its content hasn't changed since its announcement"

Please accept my apologies. I don't know why it has been delayed ( I relay the messages as a CM). As soon as i get the official release date I will post it here.

Finally got around to reading up on the new stuff.  Can't wait!  Ups the ante on the Vegas vs. Gears thing... or would if I wasn't already in the Vegas camp... despite probably being better at Gears.

I'm going to be playing this (and spamming invites to my friends) pretty much nightly now.  Forgot about the game once I realized my 360 was working again.

Won't be on Wed, but pretty much every night other than that I'm game.

http://previews.teamxbox.com/xbox-360/1577/Tom-Clancys-Rainbow-Six-Vegas/p1/

Quite a bit more info on this today:

Three brand new multiplayer maps, two revisited multiplayer maps and two new adversarial gameplay modes
April 18th is targeted release date, at a cost anticipated "under 1000 points"

Quote
One of these new modes is called Assassination while the other is called Conquest. There are two teams in each mode, but each has very different goals that create unique and exciting scenarios. In Assassination mode, one team is designated the Assault team and the other is assigned to Defend the target. The target is a highly valuable civilian that the Defenders must protect while escorting to the extraction zone. Conversely, the Assault team will fight to eliminate the VIP before he is able to successfully reach the extraction point. The most interesting aspect of Assassination mode is that one member of the Defending team will play the role of the VIP, armed only with an automatic handgun. This adds another level of gameplay that gives players control of the VIP rather than simply giving the CPU control of this character. There are no respawns available in this mode. Coordination and teamwork will prove vital to the level of success the Defenders will have in Assassination mode.

Conquest mode is team-based, control-point match that includes three stationary Mobile Radar Installations that each team will fight for. Prior to each match, the host will determine the number of points required to win. As one team takes control of one or more of the radar installations, points will begin to rack up for their team. The rate that a teamís points increases is determined by the number of radar installations they have under control at any given time during the match. If one team is in control of two of the three radar installations, their score will go up much faster than the team controlling only one installation. The team who reaches the designated score first wins the match. In Conquest mode, the host will be able to determine the number of respawns available for each player. The choices consist of 3, 5, 10 or unlimited respawns. There is also an option that enables or disables team respawn, which will respawn groups of teammates who have died in waves rather than individually. Conquest challenges teams to stay in constant communication to coordinate their efforts in order to both attack installations under enemy control while also defending installations already scoring points for their team.

Man, I'm so tired of that "games are cheaper than movies" analogy.  Using that same logic, you could say that the mini-expansion is unbelievably expensive because you could get hundreds of hours of entertainment out of a similarly priced amount of books, or thousands of hours out of the nearly free punching yourself in the balls.  Games should be compared to games and yes, $12 (or however much you have to pay for 1000 points) is a lot of money for 3 new maps and 2 new game modes.  I like the MP of R6 enough though that I will probably buy it if the buzz is good.

Really?  I kind of enjoyed it although I didn't play that much.  It's definitely a much different feel than the deathmatch type of games in GoW.  That sort of gametype isn't my favorite.  I feel that R6 excels much more at the cooperative and team sorts of games.  The problem with the sharpshooter game is that, as Calvin says, you need to use a little more care in planning your attack, which is tough if you don't have someone watching your back.  I'd like to see a similar kind of deathmatch gametype, but instead of every man for himself, you would have two-man teams.

Well it's more that there's no way to dive, run (at a reasonable pace) or otherwise evade in any way.
