not just a racer, but FPS too.  I can hear my video card weeping as I play the video, this one looks to be a system builder.  It sounds like it's still in the early stages and they're playing it close to the chest with details on certain things, but I have a good feeling about iD's first new IP in at least 13 years.

Read that article.  Makes the game sound like a cross between Autoduel and Stalker.  Sign me up!  I am rather surprised at the lack of buzz around here, Ceekay's conversation with himself not withstanding.

Meh, I've already played a great version of this game when it was called Borderlands.  I'm sure I will play this as well, but I can't say I'm all that excited about another ID game with all the other quality shooters available these days.

the 5 minute video was meh. Well, not the video itself, the game looks great tech wise. but meh gameplay wise. It looks dated. Just strafing around shooting? Sweet, that was neat in 1997. Need a little more depth to a shooter than that. I thought this was sorta to be a rpg hybrid as well? Didn't see any elements of that, unless it was at the end, after 3 mins I closed it.

i agree that from all the vids i have seen up to now it just seems like its shoot shoot shoot and not much else,i am hoping there is some variety on the missions ...looks very nice though

I do not have high hopes for it.  ID always seemed to make great engines that turn into great games, when another developer makes a game to go along with the awesome graphics engine.

I figure it's an id game, so lots of shooting, lots of 'splosions and a shortage on gray and brown pixels for the next year after it's release.

Well, I liked what I saw in that video.  The monster spawns seemed much more organic (realistic) this time around, as opposed to the spawning in and monster closets of Doom3.  ALso, the final firefight where some of the creatures came over the shack instead of down the corridor didn't seem pre-arranged, like they finally started making situational AI (which was absent in Doom3).  (you could also see this in the first firefight as that big guy stepped over the concrete barrier.)  Is it perfect?  No.  But it's already looking like a better shooter than Doom3.
