Easy, first that came to mind... Final Fantasy. I've tried about 10 times to get into this series and I fail every time.

Metal Gear Solid Final Fantasy Devil May Cry GTA SOCOM Mario (all except the original Super Mario Brothers, everything since has sucked)
I am sure there are others, but these first popped in to my head.

Dynasty Warriors!
Can I name two? Dynasty Warriors. (Can we try something new sometime this decade?) Gran Turismo (Look! The graphics are more shiny, but the gameplay is the same every time!) Somebody hit my weak spot for maximum damage when they change the formula.

It seems as if the GTA series has worn out its welcome.
Oh hey, here's a newer one; The Suffering. So I played only an hour of the first one and a demo of the second. So what. I played enough to know that it's incredibly mediocre and sorta lame.

(I may give KH2 another shot when it drops to $20) You have got to be the only person out there who loves the first game but hates the second. Other way around or hating both, I could see though. As for me, I'm hard pressed for to name anything because I'm always open for any franchise to improve. For example, I disliked Jade Empire but if Bioware can make a lot of improvements for Jade Empire 2, then I'd be back on board again.

It was only later that he was burned.

I'll hop onboard the "I hate Zelda because the games suck" train.
Ditto for Gran Turismo, Grant Theft Auto (all of them), and Final Fantasy.
There was a time when I liked those last three. You know, the earlier days. Now they're all tired and annoying and I can't stand them.
I've always hated Zelda though.

Metal Gear (30 minutes of gameplay, 40 hours of cutscenes) Final Fantasy (although I may give XII a shot to see if I like the new combat) Streetfighter (they should have stopped at SF3: Hyperkinetic Epileptic Meth-head edition)

Oh yeah, I forgot Socom, I'd have better luck replacing my "A.I." teamates made out of 2 pieces of wood nailed together with a hat on top of it. They might not follow my orders either, but at least they wouldn't start jogging out into open fire for no reason or walk right up to a timed charge I just set and then ignore all orders to vacate the area. To be fair, this was just the first one, but that put me off the series entirely.

It's great to see every single post in this thread has games that were very successful. Only one comes to mind for me: Everquest. Greeeeaaaaaat, teach every game company that you can make gazillions off gamers being idiots with unlimited income that you can keep getting to pay you each month for the sake of chasing a carrot on a stick.
