I've done the former and am doing the latter. I've almost done the former (don't have Dead Rising yet) and I'm most definitely doing the latter. Makes this hard to discuss, no?

I think the only good option is to donate that money to a charity and spend the time you would have spent playing on those consoles volunteering with those in need.
Ultimately that will be more rewarding.....

Ultimately that will be more rewarding..... More rewarding? Possibly, although my whole charity urge was satisfied when me and some friends were in Costa Rica and decided to give back by building a playground, fixed up a school, and poured concrete for their new water drainage tank. Back on topic however, the Xbox 360, and the aformentioned games, interest me, but other than that I have yet to see any other titles (well maybe Gears of War). Wii has Zelda as a launch title, but yet again I really have yet to hear anything game wise about Wii. Edit- Costco is selling the 360 Premium for 320 bucks, and I'll probably pick that up on my way home =P

I'll bet those kids would have rather had the 360............or the Wii.

Buy an Xbox 360 (as well as Dead Rising and Chromehounds) or wait for Nintendo Wii? Discuss! First off, welcome. Second, I'm thinking there are enough good games on the 360, both released and upcoming, to justify the 360. On the other hand, much of the Wii will be dependent on whether or not the controller 'clicks' for you or not.

I read somewhere that you could connect your Gamecube controller to the system tho...which would be a definate plus. I've also heard some pretty bad stuff about hardware issues with the 360...

I've also heard some pretty bad stuff about hardware issues with the 360... That is correct for your first statement - the Wii is fully backwards compatible with the Gamecube (including controller ports). And you'll be able to purchase games that'll play from it on the following consoles: NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, and TG16. And as far as the 360 goes...some of us have problems, others have none. Depends on who you ask.

Welcome LP! I am worried on the Wii about the controller (as other posts mentioned above). I just don't know how its going to "feel"...I saw a demo somewhere of someone using the controller as a bow/arrow (I think it was for Zelda), and it looked cool - but somewhat wierd at the same time. Good point on the $320 for the 360 at Costco...I've been looking to get one - and that's a great price! And I've been wanting to try Chromehounds

I've also heard some pretty bad stuff about hardware issues with the 360... Hardware issues were more prevailant earlier in the 360's lifespan, at this point there are new revisions of the hardware which are much more stable.
