I finally picked up Psychonauts this weekend. And I wound up playing Psychonauts all weekend.

Its one of those games you cant wait to get home and get back to.

It has that magic feeling that LucasArts games USED TO HAVE. If you havent picked up this game, do so now, you owe it to Tim Schaefer, he has made a platform game with the old LucasArts adventure game feel.

This was my GOTY until the final level at which point you will be hurling the controller towards the screen. It ends strong though so keep going, but those final few missions massively suck. But overall I absolutely love this game. Laughed out loud frequently. Wonderful story and characters and loads of fun and creativity. The Milkman Conspiracy though is probably my favorite sequence if only because that sort of off-the-wall deranged comedy cracks me up.

The punchline to that sequence is a scream. smile

Still a little early to call, but I can easily call this my GOTY so far, its really well done... Its fresh, and the humor is brillant. I dont know what took me so long to come around on this game.

Hell yeah, this game rules!  I think Goggalor was one of my favorites.  That last boss battle did piss me off, though.

If you like Tim Schaefer's brand of humor, be sure to check out his blog/news thing over at the Double Fine site.

Always wanted to play the game. I think my PS2 might be getting a new disk to play with.

I actually just got back into it tonight, mainly because of this thread.  Thanks, Hank for reminding me what a gem of a game I was letting go unplayed!

Loved that game; though nothing much to contribute to the thread aside from advising anyone who is lurking, thinking about playing Psychonauts -- do it!

I have yet to play this sadly. However, it's good to hear that Lucasarts is finally coming back. I might add this to my gamefly queue and send back hitman.

That was the one that left me completely speechless. I absolutely couldn't believe they said that in the game. Of course, what happens in the clocktower sequence was equally bravura in its own twisted way. slywink

Amen!  I have the game already but can't be bothered to unleash the beast from its pen.  Threads like this have me warming up to the idea, though.

I was trying to think of some funny lines from the opera sequence but I just keep coming back to the voice of Gloria's Inner Light and cracking up. smile

Then there's the whole Napoleon sequence that's just awesome.

Psychonauts looks absolutely hideous and it runs like crap on the PS2.

I had to stop playing it after a few hours.  It reminded me of PSOne 3d, no joke.  I loved the writing, the characters...but wow.  Couldn't torture myself.

Streer clear of the PS2 version - grab the Xbox or PC version, if you can.

I purchased it on day 1 simply because it is Tim Schafer.  The prospect of playing it on my 360 makes me all giddy. smile
